considering all the g/s references in d/p/p, the fact that all three johto starters are going to be in the new movie, the fact that a lot of the new evolutions in the ds games are for second generation pokemon, the fact that none of the 2nd generation pokemon have new art by ken sugimori, the fact that dawnsilver and duskgold have been trademarked by nintendo...
Do you mean to say that Swinub/Piloswine and Yanma don't count becuase they got new evolutions?
Keep in mind that the Red/Blue/Gold/Silver pokemon received new Sugimori art when FireRed/LeafGreen was released. But maybe they already knew at that point what would get an evolution.
Anyway, looking through my Strategy guide. Hoothoot has updated art, Noctowl doesn't. Ledyba, not Ledian. Cleffa, Igglybuff, Bellossom, Marill not Azumarill, not Yanma, Espeon/Umreon did, Slowking, Unown, Heracross, not Swinub or Piloswine, Houdour/Doom did, Donphan not Phanpy, Elekid but not Magby, and finally all of the legends did get new art. Also, G/S pokemon that got evolutions that I didn't mention did get new art.
So its all pretty random. If you look up the old art I think you'll agree that it was rather shitty. I thought so anyway. I still have my Ru/Sa guide with the old art for all first and second gen pokemon. I think he simply chose the G/S pokemon that looked the worst and fixed his work.
Can you tell how much spare time I have to kill? Holy shit am I bored.
maybe I'll go compare the two guides together to make sure I didn't get anything wrong...
I'll make a Mamoswine too, then. No one ever said I was limited to six EV-trained pokemon.
So now that I have some ideas, I need to focus on one Pokemon at a time. I guess I'll start with Togekiss.
I have to breed in two moves- easy enough, I guess. Thank anything for the Togekiss line being two egg groups. I have a Togekiss from filling my dex, and one just hatched on me in Platinum from the egg I got in Hearthome, so off to work I go, I guess.

I must say, it's quite tedious and boring trying to Pick Up an Earthquake TM. Must've spent four hours trying to get the damn Meowth to find it and he still hasn't.
Is your Meowth leveled up enough to find Earthquake TMs? When playing through Diamond, I imported a Lv100 Linoone from Emerald, and ended up getting around half a dozen of those TMs.
Its really hard to get those Pickup TMs. I've had Pickup slaves in my party for hours, and I have only two Focus Punch TMs to show for it (granted they have come in handy). Its far easier to just give in and grind for BP to buy it. Or alternatively, if you have Emerald, just clone it there!
The one downside to having easy access to IV battles at any time- now I'm insanely picky about them. Granted at least as far as my Porygon2/PorygonZ projects go, I only get one each of those so it does pay off. Though I guess I could ask around for cloned UpGrades/Dubious Discs.
hey does anyone want to lend me some ev trained pokes for the regionals here in seattle next weekend? I'm only going for the shiny milotic but if I actually get in I don't want to look like a tard.

Yeah, it's a level 91 Meowth that Rockin gave me a while back.
The key to using Pickup is to have large numbers of pokes with the ability sitting in your party. One pokemon with Pickup isn't going to get you much stuff. Four or five, on the other hand... I keep several on hand when training up low-level pokes.
Kuribo, what are the rules on that regional? If its the official Nintendo one, I recall there being an actual level limit of some sort, among other things. Plus those would be double battles, which are somewhat.. odd.
Emerl, doesn't the Pokemon have to be lvl 100 to get Earthquake TMs from Pickup in D/P/P?

No, it's still 91-100, since I picked up an Earthquake a long time ago with it but have since used up that TM.
Guess my Meowth must be holding out on me- its only given me Focus Punch.
And yeah, Nintendo rules are the lvl 50 double battles, but I also believe that they want your Pokemon to be at level 50. Even though they could set the match at level 50. Supposedly this is also in place so that Dragonite and Tyranitar (as well as Legendaries that are only found above level 50) aren't allowed, though they did just release a lvl 50 Dragonite supposedly just to address this. The whole thing just struck me as odd.
Free Shiny Milotics however, are not odd! Especially if they have a useable nature.

I could let you borrow a few of mine, but many of my fully trained pokes are above level 50, and the remainder are not really meant to be used in double battles. On top of that I couldn't let you use any of the ones that will be on my tourney team. So yeah, that makes this the list of possibles:
pikachu
torkoal
purugly (would need to be re-happinessed)
rotom
bronzong
azumarill
glaceon
kabutops
mamoswine
slowbro
lanturn
gliscor
arcanine
muk
you would also need to wait for me to get wifi again which would definitely be before next weekend, but for the majority of these guys you would need to train them up to 50 (without ruining them please)
It's so the tournament doesn't end up looking like the Wi-fi rooms- so someone with six obviously-hacked shiny legendaries with maxed stats doesn't come in and make them look like fools.

So, does anyone wish to save me from the madness and give me an Earthquake? I don't really enjoy being a moocher, but don't really have the time to devote to it.

They can detect hacks though..
And if all the official ones are 50 then why wouldn't they just hack a level 50 shiny?

I only need one, Ink. And yes, Platinum. I'll give you a Heart Scale for the trouble.
If they can detect hacked pokemon, why don't they clean up the GTS? I'd bet at least 40% of the stuff on there is hacked. Like Lv. 100 Kakuna and Metapod. That's Nintendo for you...
I dunno if they can actually detect hacked pokemon as long as everything about them is legal, IE they don't have complete 31 IVs or a move or ability they can't possibly have
Yeah it's weird, online battling can definitely detect hacks, though it won't actually stop you using them. PBR will you stop you using them completely.
I suppose they might be concerned some kid will trade a legit poke for something unknowingly hacked on the GTS and they don't want to punish them.

Thanks Ink. I really should stop wasting these hard-to-get TMs on failed projects.
Where can you go in Diamond to check the happiness of a Pokemon? Also, I know that level-ups raise happiness, but does it count if they level up in the daycare?
If no, then breeding up a better Lucario is going to be a bitch.

well I think you can use heatran
and I would, he kicks ass
but on the off chance I do, I don't want to roll in there with my cruddy playthrough team
and I don't have enough time to train my own team

It would be less effort though, so...
kabutops, slowbro, arcanine, and muk are in their fourties. All of the rest are at least like 22.

6v6 singles auto level to 100, why would you do it any other way?
I guess they really like double battles.

this will be a train wreck!
getting them to 50 won't be a problem, as there's a trainer with a happiny that coughs out 1200 or so exp, and thats with non traded pokemon
tyranitar is imba so they banned it in the most inconvenient way possible.
Hell, I dunno.
