So I recently formatted my computer, and being the idiot I am I synced my ipod to my fresh itunes.. deleting my entire collection of music. All is not lost! I had alot of music on a removeable back up harddrive, however I didn't put my purchased itunes music on it, as I figured I could just re download it from itunes once I logged in.
However, after logging into my itunes, I can't find the "purchased" tab. My purchases are clearly logged, but I can't seem to figure out how to redownload them. Or can I EVEN re download my purchased music?
Send an email to iTunes support and explain. They let me redownload all my stuff once, but they were pretty clear that it's usually a "Everybody gets one" thing.

This is my problem with digital downloads- if companies want to, they can restrict it so you practically don't even own the music you have paid for...
That said, call them up and see if you can get a re-download. If not well, you have two options i suppose. Get your rightfully paid for songs back by less than legal means (not recommended since, from my understanding that's still ilegal, i could be wrong about that though) or go out and try to find the music for as cheap as possible so you don't put a dent in your wallet trying to reclaim all of it.
meh, if you keep proper backups it's really not a problem.
The reason for it is under apple's deals with the labels, they get charged every time a song is downloaded, regardless if apple charges for it or not. So say you buy a song for .99, and the royalties for downloading are 5 cents. Apple's margins are already razor thin on ituns, so say they make 10 cents on the song. If you re-download it twice, apple is back to breaking even, more than twice, and apple actually starts losing money on that purchase.

Used CD stores are great for that.
Pretty much... short term convience =/= long term convience[sic] (most of the time)

But seriously, just keep a backup, or buy CD's.
