I know OOo can't open .docx files, but are there any formats OOo can save under that word can't handle?

I'd love to be the one disappoint you when I don't fall down

um, the ODF formats 2007 can't handle natively.

and I think Open office has limited support for docx in 3 now.

Open Office 3.0 has native read support for docx/xslx/pptx, but I don't think it can save in those OpenXML formats. MS Office applications cannot open OpenDocument format files (odf/ods/odp/etc.) without a plugin. OOo saves in OpenDocument formats by default, but you can change the defaults to something else if need be.
