Blackjack, do you just play P1 like it's a required meal for the day or something? Over the course of the threads I swear it seems like you've done 4 separate runs. cj seems almost as bad, but maybe I'm just reading everything wrong.
Huh? This is the first time I've played Persona 1 in years. I'll help people out when they have questions about it, so that may be it. Or you're thinking of Persona 2, which I do play a bit more often.

Which version of Persona 2? Innocent Sin or Eternal Punishment?

For the record, I've played
Persona 1 twice: almost finished it around when it first came out(it was my first SMT experience), then restarted it waaaaaaaaay(before P3 came out) later, and finally cleared it(with Main/Mark/Mary/Nate/Yuki?).
Persona 2 IS once, and EP twice(same situation as P1).
If anything, maybe Blackjack should be doing the LP of P1, since he's already started it.

Can't have used Yuki, she's Snow Queen Quest only (well, and the very beginning of the game). It had to be one of Brad/Ellen/Alana/Chris
I refuse to LP Persona 1 for lots of reasons, not least of them being I'd have to restart and that's just plain old not happening.

^It was Ellen. Er, or maybe Brad. But I want to say Ellen.
And at least P1's not particularly difficult. Tedious yes, difficult no.
Yeah, I'll agree with that. The thing that makes EP a bit harder compared to IS is you don't get your fifth member until much later, and there are a lot of times even after that you're left stranded with one or two fewer than you'd normally have.
I actually have a second print of EP sitting on my shelf, original case and everything in mint condition. Should I give that a playthrough or should I really track down the translation of IS first and play that instead?
I hopped into Nocturne yesterday. I have to say, the atmosphere of the game is incredibly creepy.
This is my first time playing, and I chose Hard Mode, because I am "seeking the thrill of death".
I wonder how long it will take me to quit and restart on normal.
If this is your first Shin Megami Tensei game, then you have made a very silly decision. If you're used to SMT though, then you're on the first step to becoming a true man. And a guy who has to grind constantly.

Play IS first, you'll be so glad you did. I really wish I'd had the chance at the time.

In terms of gameplay, EP is without a doubt the stronger game, as it takes everything in IS and just improves on it and removes the flaws. Both have really, really great characters and an excellent plot, but if I absolutely had to choose, I'd say IS's are slightly stronger.
So if you're only going to play one, it's up to you which is more important. I'd say if you have the ability to play both in order, you should.
I found Eternal Punishment to be a joke, but it's because I had played Innocent Sin. I knew what fusions to go for and abused the hell out of them the whole game.
Had I gone in blind I would have had a harder time I'm sure.
Innocent Sin took me at least three tries to kill the final boss (maybe two but I'm pretty sure it was three).
Eternal Punishment was one shot. Next time I play I'm going to use the GameFAQs guide I think, to try to get 100% completion and prepare for the EX Dungeon, but I don't know when that will be.

Man I was so confused with some of the fusion spells when I played IS the first time, because they were different from EP's. I was all "why do I need wind for Stone Raise!?"

I've heard it said that Atlus USA actually passed up on Innocent Sin because EP was the stronger game. I think that's preferable to getting only IS and being left hanging with an ending like that.
EP can be understood without playing IS, it's just got more of a mystery element.
I also wanted to ask, what stats should I focus on in Nocturne? In P2 (both of them) I just pumped up Tatsuya/Maya's Vit and Tec and stomped everything. I think I pumped magic in SMT I and II as well.

If you want a mage, pump Magic to max and then go for Vit
If you want a physical guy, do Strength first and then I don't know what I went magic.

YMMV, but I went STR/MAG/VIT and mostly ignored Luck and Speed on my second run. I went balanced on my Normal run, which wasn't too bright.

I tend to either pick Str or Mag, pair it with Vit, and then carry demons to make up for whatever you suck with.
Although one of these days I sort of want to try a main who is more of a super defensive support type.
Still waiting for the game where he's the super boss. It will be glorious if they make him one and you fight him and he doesn't take it seriously at all, but he's still incredibly difficult. Then when you win, you realize it was all in your head or something because he was making you think you were fighting him. He can of course do that because he's fucking Igor.

All flipping cards and blasting you with mega attacks
never once getting out of his chair
occasionally he waves a hand at you and does 500 points of physical damage

This was actually pretty much exactly how the super boss of P3 played out, minus the chair.

No Elizabeth would run up to you and bean you with her book.
An Igor fight would involve as little motion on Igor's part as possible. Maybe he'd change which hands he was folding every now and again, or tilt his head a little.
And his near-defeat stance is him gripping the arms of his chair, which should probably be enough to make the average Persona-user pass out from foreboding.
Posts
1) The apocalypse has occured and it's your goddam fault
2) Get one-shotted by random encounters two feet from the next save
3) You're never getting all those skills on that demon. Give up.
4) Ohshit Mysterious Blond Guy!
...and last but not least-
5) MATADOOOOOOOOR!
No Matador(or Harlot for that matter) made me sad.
Am I missing the option to register/bring out my personas or do I have to wait for that to open up?
Exactly which of these vending machine drinks should I be seeking out?
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
1.You have to wait for it to open up
2. I think its mad bull that will let you unlock a social link soon.
Thanks for the Vietnam style flashback, Yggi...
Oh, and:
All of you should do an Ayase (Alana) playthrough.
She is tearing shit up. She just dealt out 200+ damage to a group of enemies that were 'strong to magic'
With MABUFU.

Destructoid's Badass Of The Month.
The man does get around.
Also, Victor pre-Raidou(huge):
Classy.
All flipping cards and blasting you with mega attacks
never once getting out of his chair

Post-Raidou, surely?
Good point. Funny how his outfit becomes actually less modern.
