I purchased a bunch of new parts for a new PC. The motherboard is not posting, no video, no beeps, nothing. Both case fans and cpu fan and LED lights turn on correctly on the motherboard. I've cleared the CMOS jumpers and tried them in both positions :winky: but to no avail.
Do you need all three parts for a motherboard to post? I thought it would give you some beeps if the CPU or RAM was missing.
I can take the ram and put them in another PC to test. But I have no way of testing the motherboard or CPU. What are my next steps?
I hate to say, Foxconn doesn't list that as a supported processor for that mobo
I think that list might be outdated.... hopefully. It says it supports AM2+. The PDF attached is from 12/24 and that processor came out just after that I believe.
Thanks though, I'll probably contact Foxconn if the memory swap doesn't work.

Its possible, but other than that it could be supported by a bios update. I checked the manual and the CPU power connector is basically impossible for you to have missed.

That would be quite the conundrum. How would I be able to update the bios if I can't get it to boot?
Know anyone with an x2 based system whose processor is on the compatibility list?
Either that or some computer shop might be willing to do it for you. Might get expensive if they're cocks about it though.
I'd say it'd be worth a try calling foxconn support too. If its gonna be a pain getting it updated it'd suck hard if it turned out to still not be supported.

This is pretty basic, but if you're putting the new MB in an old case be sure to check that all of the install posts have been placed in the correct spots. I once bought an MB and slapped it in my old case only to find that I had left one of the posts in the case and it was pressing directly onto the MB. I was lucky that I didn't short the thing out to hell and back.

Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
Had the same thing recently. Needed to try a new Proc to make sure.
It was a evga board, ddr3 ram and a quad core Intel.
Get it all together, and na-da. Take out one ram stick, na-da. Finally in frustration I let him borrow my old core-due to see and posted like a ... well posted fine.
What was your old build? No processor to try out? (I'm pretty unfamiliar w/ AMD Stuff)

I'd try the Ram swap, and see where you go from there.

Did the tech say it should work? At that point I'd be asking for an RMA.
Unfortunately I have to eat the 10 dollar shipping charge for RMA
