PCIe x16 / PCIe x16 2.0 compatability

I have a PCIe x16 video card (presumable this is version 1.0 of the slot).

If I buy a motherboard with a PCIe 2.0 slot, will the card still work?

I've seen things saying that a 2.0 card can work in a 1.0 slot, but not the other way around.

I just want to be sure before I spend teh monies.

I'm pretty sure it can. My motherboard supports PCI-E 2.0 and I didn't even know that until after I built it, and my video card was only a PCI-E 1.0 (the ATI Radeon HD3870). It booted up fine.
