So on Friday night I was attacked and hit on the face. Now this wouldn't particularly bother me but I'm starting to get two black eyes, does this mean my nose is broken? It's sore to touch but not misshapen in any way.
Its a pretty classic sign, yes. But you may have gotten lucky enough to have the cartilage/bone set itself into the right place shortly after. IME, the first one goes okay, minimal aesthetic change, but if you get it broken again, you'll probably want to see a doc to get it put back into place.
Or y'know, this time, if its something you might worry about.
Go to your GP, better and more reliable. Free and not much trouble. If he thinks it might be broken he'll refer you to a hospital which is a pain, but do you really want to risk it? As I understand it there is a fair possibility of scar tissue from healing causing extra 'disfigurement' on top of the possibility of it not setting straight.
A nasal fracture is a break in the bone over the ridge of the nose. It usually results from a blunt injury and is one of the most common facial fracture. Symptoms of a broken nose include pain, blood coming from the nose, bruising around the eyes, misshapen appearance, swelling, and difficulty breathing through the nose. Serious nose injuries can cause problems that require immediate attention. However, for minor nose injuries, the doctor may prefer to see the victim after the swelling subsides to evaluate the extent of injury.
it's not necessarily broken. There's not a whole lot of places for blood to go in the face. i got punched a long time ago and both eyes blackened like that. My nose wasn't broken though. if your nose still hurts, it might be fractured. put a cold pack on your face to reduce swelling/bruising. There isn't really much you can do though.
