Holy Invasion Of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This?
Basically from what I gather this is an action-puzzle game where, you play the god of destruction who's job is to build dungeons. It looks interesting and I though it deserved a thread
Their is next to no information about this other than it's developed by NIS America and comes out this july
This looks... interesting. Without any info though, hard to say whether it's worth looking into more. I do like making dungeons though, so if this involves that concept, it's worth at least Gameflying.
Hardcore Gaming 101 just put up a writeup about this game and its sequel a few weeks ago.
Here's a bit about the 'Satirical RPG' thing:
An important point to focus on besides the gameplay is that Namaikida is a spoof. It’s a comedy meta-game filled with gags based on the staples of the RPG genre. The names of monsters and heroes, challenges, descriptions, bits of dialogue spoken by heroes while exploring (only in the sequel) - all of it in some way mocks genre conventions and titles like Dragon Quest, Dungeon Master, et al. An RPG barman enters the dungeon at one point, and sometimes when a hero dies he’ll cry out "Why didn’t I save?!" Some challenges have names like The Dragon Question, Dragon Buster-buster, while another is called Yobidase Daisakusen, which is almost guaranteed to be a reference to Tobidase Daisakusen, the Square game that became known as Worldrunner 3D. One of the levels is also called Final Fantastic XIII. Even the demonlord’s personality raises a smile, since he’s not as evil as you’d suspect, whimpering and crying like a child when things don’t go his way, while throughout the game uses a lot of internet slang. Unfortunately most of the humour is confined to written text, and with well over 200 character profiles available to read, that’s a lot of humour non-Japanese speakers will miss out on.
Going off the screenshots of this so far, NIS understands this. It remains to be seen how well they'll convert the parody crap into western terms, though.

Given the awesome translation of the Prinny game, I'm fairly optimistic NIS can pull it off.

This has reminded me that I would love to see Mel Brooks create/write a game.

A Capellan's favorite sheath for any blade is your back.
I would buy this game at the $20 price point on the name alone. If it comes out at $30 I will have to see more information/reviews. In anycase it looks/sounds different.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
FYI, there's a "demo" of this now available on the Playstation Store (viewable through your PSP, since only about five people in the world know about this feature). It's a whopping 9 MB, so either it's a tiny-ass demo, a long trailer, or the game just has a super-small footprint in general. Who knows?

...and I downloaded it and I have no idea what I'm doing. It's pretty complex. It's not like Dungeon Master, where you can pick up and move your monsters. Instead, you're digging paths to uncover tiny little slime monsters, and from there the slimes wander around, eventually decay and turn into flowers that then leak power into other soil blocks, and from there you dig out those soil blocks to unearth slightly more powerful monsters, etc. etc. So "ecological management" is the name of the game—kind of reminded me of Sim Ant in a strange way. You have to make sure you have enough weak monsters that die and help create stronger monsters, but since the stronger monsters feed on the weaker ones you can't kill all of them off.
A demo is a good idea because it's as confusing as hell at first.
I think I remember reading about this in an EGM column a long-ass time ago.
I saw a bunch of YouTube vids a while back and was instantly interested. Glad this thread popped up.
Just gotta find my PSP.

See, I probably can't get an iPhone until next year, and the idea of a PSP where I don't have to lug around a bunch of games is a pleasant idea. I was trying to put two and two together...

This would actually be a title that might benefit from digital distro. It's so aimed at the hard-core niche that it might not affect sales all that much (if it does come out on retail, how many copies of this do you think a GameStop is really going to carry), and because of the game's lo-fi style, I think it'll end up being pretty small (again, the demo is 9MB).
Well I thought I had the hang of it. First Hero almost made it halfway, second died in the entrance and then the third attempt utterly stomped everything I threw at them.
Damn you Sukisuki!
Oh, and make sure you read the Almanac after you finish. Some of it is hilarious (such as Sukisuki).
So I'm having trouble once I hit level 5. Is there a general strategy guide anywhere to go over dungeon building fundamentals and the right number and ratio of servants?
Damn, I ignored this thread the whole time because I wasn't used to the game not being called by its Japanese title. I didn't even know it was being localized.
Just started playing this. There is also a purportedly better sequel yet to be translated. I command this thread to flourish so that I may discuss my many future failures!

You usually got to split them up who they will stomp through your whole level. Plus putting some souls in a dead guys skeleton and reactivating it usually works pretty well.
I can't get past stage 5 where there's 3 guys one is a witch. Those guys just tear though whatever I have out there. This game is sooo hard. I must be missing a lot of basic stuff like level design because it feels like impossible at that point.

It is a pretty awesome name, if nothing else.
Bwuh?
Definitely sounds interesting after reading that short blurb about it.

No (AFAIK), but the demo's out on PSN.

I hate the way they moves and random give nutrients or eat them.
