I was having this argument with my gf a while back, and she was insistent that Comic Sans is a great font. I was like "What? No it isn't. It's a terrible font."
I don't "hate" the font with a passion like some people seem to, but I was trying to do my best to explain why it is actually not good.

i am unclear as to why it fails as a typeface
maybe it does because people are retarded and cant use it correctly, but this isnt the fault of the typeface

are you actually being serious here
E: I mean aesthetically in most cases (like normal text) it's not the most appealing font, but I'm sure it has practical applications elsewhere

it's a documentary about the creation of the font that quickly became the go-to industry standard and is now ubiquitous in our everyday lives, as told by the people who created it and use it every day in their careers as typographers and whatnot.

yeah I'm pretty sure the people who actually care enough to hate a font are the people who are supposed to be ridiculed here
though to be fair that didn't come across so well in my first iteration of the OP
or you know
evenly spaced text

Like on a typewriter?
It's more obvious when it's bigger
century gothic looks better as a series of lower-case letters than it does with proper capitalization
i don't know why it just does, it's almost like the capitals throw off the balance somehow
We use that as the standard type in our email signatures here at work.
SO WERE YOU
Century Gothic has many good uses. It's good looking
I'd like to discuss the Hitler of fonts, Papyrus
yeah but I mean Courier has practical applications
most manuscripts are still written in it and stuff

I'm looking forward to Objectified, a sort-of sequel about the people behind the consumer designs we see throughout the day

Hahah I've seen Papyrus used on some signs and stuff 'round here. Makes me chuckle.
Also bad: websites with no internal font consistency
He loathes it
you don't say
It's pretty neat.
Specifically
But you know it's the same as any other movie about fonts
and this comic seems to be referencing it indirectly, I think
other than that, I don't think there was a comic about Helvetica specifically
it's the second one.
damn you viv
dunno why.
Also, an entire movie dedicated to the group of people that made Helvetica? Seriously? It took a fucking group?
I made a font once in a high-school art class. The only tough thing about it was how incredibly boring it was.
s-sorry?
you might've executed it a bit better though
