Holy shiiiit I just picked up Gheed's Fortune from a Baal run. This must be the first time I've ever been able to pick up any of the "good stuff" in a drop; usually all the other players get it as I suppose they have far better ping.
Definitely up for grouping, definitely in need of any HC tips/tricks from some vets, and definitely interested in any newbie skellymancer gear you folks might stumble upon as you grind.
I'm going to get back into HC once the ladder resets and 1.13 is out. As of now, I'm going to try running the Mausoleum as I have just heard about how it's the best place, next to the pit, to farm for items since1.09
fixed.. I don't get why vista themes fuck up some of my installs... As Diablo I only plays in Basic and Diablo II will only install and play in Aero Glass Vist theme WTF I hate Vista.
Quick question: What is the preferred helm for a Dream runeword that doesn't look absolutely hideous?
You can make it in the normal/exceptional/elite versions of the great helm (the one with the tall horns/spikes), mask and crown. Also the bone visage, but not the normal/exceptional version of that.
The bone visage is the most popular, but it does look pretty rubbish. If you're going for looks, go for a version of the great helm or crown.
Yeah, I'm not liking bone visage, especially for a pala. Same with masks. Helms look too plain while great helms look too extravagant. I guess the only acceptable headgear are full helms and crowns. The crown kind of resembles Boba Fett which gets cool points.
Yeah, both the tiara and diadem has 3 sockets. Barb helmets and druid pelts can work too, unless he's doing a sorc or paladin, which tend to be the more popular dream users.

The latter two have roughly twice the defence of the prior two, but it doesn't matter too much with Dream.

Then there are Diadems and Tiaras, which both have worse defence but no strength requirement whatsoever. Good with, say, a Dream sorceress.
It's also depressing as shit to do two Countess runs in hell and get two els, one eld, and an ith. Especially when just walking around act one between those runs I got a lum and two amns!
Well, even being a constant source of runes is a good thing if you want to roll them up.
Also speaking about a countess run I got my Monarch today! Woo hoo! Now I just need ten more str so I don't have to wear a ring to equip it.
+2 for spirit sword, +2 for spirit shield +2 amulet +1 for skin of vipermagi. Pretty well loaded out. Now I need a helm with some more resists and I should be able to start taking hell seriously.
If you're into trading, consider running Nightmare for gems to trade for Tal Rasha's, the full set is pretty kickass for a meteorb. You can use it with your Spirit Monarch.

I'm thinking of starting to play on bnet but isn't the ladder reset soon(tm)? I'm a pretty experienced player from years of sp while I was living in a place without net

right, finally got my expansion disk on campus. are you guys USEast or USWest? ladder or not ladder?
edit: kay, nevermind. the game, which is installed on my external hard drive, does nothing when ordered to launch. if I put the disk in, the window pops up with no option presented to play diablo 2. what the crap.
edit 2: holy crap, nevermind. I tried a zillion different ways to force the game to run, none worked, and endured my computer having apocalyptic amounts of lag for ten minutes before... Diablo 2, Lord of Destruction launched a zillion times. At the same time.

Tal Amu and Tal Plate are worth at least a pul though, which amusingly are the only ones I've never seen drop. Okay, I lied. I've seen them drop in baalruns, but no matter what I do, the 7 other people/bots always manage to snatch the swag first.
Despite the steep price, for what you get in return, I can't recommend the set enough. It has 300+ life boost, 150+ mana boost, dex boost (for blocking), 50 fcr, 25 fhr, +5 to skills, a whopping 160+ mf and you don't ever have to worry about resistance (aside from poison which is solved by the lovely sandstorm). It's also purple and you get an aura for free!
The aura's just for cosmetic purposes though. And don't forget, there's other set pieces that contain amulets. If I don't pick the amulet up, I always hope it IDs to be an Arcanna's or Angelic's >:O
And totally agree on the Tal Plate, it's a cheaper alternative to an Enigma in terms of MF, and has more resists. I use the armor on my Zon which works wonders. Besides the fact I look like Barney.
Hey all, started up again recently on US West Softcore Ladder... *Zul808. Playing a classic Meteorb in the mid-70s now. Looks like most of you are on East, but if anyone's on West let's get some murdering on...
He's probably dead already if it's a public game that you joined. The message always shows in the game until it drops I guess.
But just in case he isn't, here's a few places to try.
1. Take the Arcane Sanctuary WP, and go back through the portal. It'll be a small room if he's there.
2. Take the Frigid Highlands WP, and go for Shenk or Eldritch
3. Find the Tree where the scroll drops in Cold plains? It's an easy one to find since the tree shows up on the map.
4. Stony Field with the unique Fallen by the Cairn stones.
Ok, I'm definately interested in getting tal's set, but what would be good trades for each?
I'm a complete trading novice.
1. Runes (Rals/Orts/Nefs/Amns in bulk, 10+)
2. "white" items: 4os/0os Monarchs, 4os Great Bows if you can find a buyer that wants one for his a1 merc, 0os/3os/4os Archon Plates, Mage Plates (only up to 3os), Dusk Shrouds, 4os eth Colossus Voulge/Cryptic Axe
3. 18+ life small charms, 4/5 all resists small charms
For the white items, it's better to run without MF, but in the end, it's all about killing speed. Cows and the Pits are good places to run for these items. Finding a buyer is the hardest part imo, especially with b.net trading. If you find yourself not having any luck with pub games, diii and d2jsp are sites that have trade sections. Be sure to read the rules first, and to watch for scammers.
*edit*Wow, forgot pgems like Chen said, bulk jewels are also good too. Make sure you aren't trading any good jewels away.
