Buying a capo for a friend. Recommendations

One of my friend's birthday is coming up and he needs a capo. Any guitarists know a good brand? I don't know how much variation there is among capos, but I'd like to get him something decent.

I highly recommend a Shubb (http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Shubb-Deluxe-S-Series-Steel-String-Capo?sku=361502). They look and sound better than the crappy plastic ones you just clip on.

The Shubb is excellent, I really find mine quite useful.

Are there any differences between the various series? For instance, I don't know exactly what kind of guitar he has. Are there different neck styles or something that they wouldn't fit well on? As you can see I know next to nothing of guitars.

A capo should work on any guitar your friend owns, from classical to acoustic to electric to bass. It should also work on shit like banjos.

I use a very old thing my dad had, a metal bar with a strip of fabric you wrap around and clip. I really do not think it makes huge difference which one you get. Most should fit on pretty much everything, and sound fine.

    I'd suggest

He can be pretty thick sometimes but he's a good earner!

I know G7th capos come with a lifetime warranty. I have a G7th Nashville capo that I like a lot. I've heard good things about Kyser as well.

With images set to not display by default, I had to actually click the link to know what the hell you were talking about.
    Well worth it though.

If you love your friend you'll get him a G7th. It is the sexiest capo around.
