meh I though of it at work and I work at a bowling center so they came out bowling pin shaped. First comic I have drawn and the first thing I have outlined and colored in photoshop. Did it all by mouse after I drew it and scanned it in

    That's your first problem.

    2nd problem: not funny.

    3rd: Don't use comic-sans.

4th: You used the same image for panels 1 and 2. That's generally a no-no.

5th: It should probably be "I still CAN'T believe you snagged a Wii" rather than "don't".

6th: That red space-filler in between the panels is absolutely atrocious.

7th: Those squiggly-lines you have in the background of the snow are really bad. It also seems you put them IN BETWEEN the other elements of the panel. That's a horrible idea, mostly because it no longer makes the background seem "behind" the penguins...it flattens everything because you're just putting the lines in between the characters rather than in a continuous circuit in the background.

8th: Your 2nd penguin is touching the bottom of the panel. Don't do that.

    9th: You
    didn't color inside the lines.

10: Your panels aren't even aligned.

11: You used capital "I"s, and capitalized the beginning of each sentence. Might as well use proper punctuation throughout the rest of the comic.

12: Your layout/composition of everything pretty much sucks.

    Try again.

Here's a bit of a suggestion. In the third panel, for the penguin that's doing the yelling, change the eye shape. In my experience most people furrow their brow when yelling, and many people reflect this by making the tops of the eyes flat (and angled in towards the nose) instead of completely round eyes.

I don't get the intensity of feeling from its expression that I do from the voice-balloon.

Ok, i usually go against the populous of this forum in these threads in particular. Maybe because im not an artist in any shape of the term, apart from randomly scribbling boobies when im bored. So this is an unbiased, and at least in the art world, a joe blogs view on that comic.

I liked the art, the characters looked original to me. The colors are nice and non-vibrant, giving it an easy on the eyes look. The only bad things i can say is the red background (maybe just white, with a title up top) and the font, although speech bubbles may make the strip seem overcrowded, a change of font and font size would accommodate this.

Yeah, that was hilarious. Thanks so much.

Verbal discipline, teehee. Maybe if that comic keeps up the good work it will one day be good enough to appear alongside Beetle Bailey.

I love how you guys dressed the OP down because of his lagging artistry and poor layout, then creamed your shorts over another penguin comic that looks like it was scribbled in MS Paint during the artist's late-afternoon bowel movement.

See now that simply isnt funny to me. You say i have no idea what im talking about, yet you do not seem to realize is that saying his comic is bad then giving him crits will simply downgrade his passion to do it. Not everyone could do something like he did, and it seems like a good effort to me, just because i didn't call him a dick and tell him to stop drawing doesn't mean his comic did not need work, nor did it mean i could not give comments on how it could improve.

Try being nice, good things will happen.

Weren't you the guy that did those iPod/FF T-shirts with the copy pasted art?

I see that you're trying to encourage him to keep drawing, but rewarding mediocrity with nothing but ass pats is a sure fire way to produce more mediocrity. I say there was no effort placed on the art or the joke... it was a bad effort.

If you want to live your life never trying to reach better goals, thats OK, hun. It was a good effort anyway! Keep making copy paste art for the world to see.

I like how "you guys" lumps together multiple individuals with congruent opinions on one topic to address a differentiated grouping of individuals with an opinion on a different topic.

To be fair, if anything is going to have a minimal dynamic between panels, it's going to be a penguin.

Penguins?... what penguins? I thought this was a dick joke?

Yeah he took a shot at it, now he needs to show us another go, which he has taken more time over and taken into account the crits that have been made.

And to the guy who wrote the comic, don't worry about the insults and such, they're like online Simon Cowell's when they want to be, but at heart they're like little cuddly love muffins that just want to bone everything around them.

Which begs the question, "Why penguins?" They're not any better than "two guys" playing videogames. Probably worse. Are they going to be recurring characters in a strip that elucidates the human condition through climatological and biological juxtaposition? Or are they just seemingly easy-to-draw blobs?
