This game is a blast. I'm kind of mad now I waited so long to play it.
That said, how fast does it normally take to play through a campaign? I finished the second one today, with the boat, and it took me 1 hr 37 mins. Should I try speeding up before going online, or is that a reasonable time in which to finish?
Expert campaign, if you have four people, can go pretty fast. I remember back before they fixed the Dead Air crescendo skipping, we beat Dead Air campaign in about 27 minutes.
I think our most recent run was No Mercy expert 4 people in about 50 minutes. Though, 2 manning makes it take exceptionally longer. I think No Mercy DT took us almost 3 hours due to restarts.

I'm surprised you could get through in 27 min although, tanks are usually what do me in on expert.
Really though, there is no "time" that is a good time. All that matters is you and the group you're with work together to survive. Granted, the longer it takes, the more likely someone will have to leave.

Blood Harvest, Expert, 40-some odd minutes WITHOUT DYING OR BEING INCAPPED!
The last one is so epic it literally knocked the socks off my feet. LITERALLY FUCK. Pretty old screen.
It's the best ending to No Mercy EVER, I ended up pouncing the guy being smokered off the side, only to descend ontop of him :winky: clawing away while he screams bloody murder. It was amazing.

I finished all the campaigns on expert with bots before people.
By far the most epic was Blood Harvest. Having to literally fight outside in the middle of the open was the most nerve wracking thing I've ever had to do in this game. But man, you get bots with M16s and hunting rifles + open space = murder.

I remember the first night playing BH, half of DT (server crash), DA, and another crash on DT on advanced by the time some guys finally gave up on NM expert.
And the happenings on IRC between the times you are referring to:

I know i cant say who used exploits when but i find it discouraging some of these 30min + times which clearly were aided by the detank spawn after 15 and the use of jesus spots since amended

As I said earlier in the thread, please go ahead and take down my Terminal time, it was before the tank bug was fixed. It was otherwise legit, but I agree that none of the bugged results should be up there.

I agree that they should be taken down, seeing 30 minutes and knowing it was achieved illegitimately is depressing.
I'd feel pretty bad if a really awesome time of mine was shadowed by a time that was ill-gotten.
The other times which i question are
Drains and the Bridge, the Bridge especially since im sure i heard word they "found a spot"
Theres no shame in using bugs and no-one should feel bad for it, that being said the notion of "friendly competition" means id rather keep the OP times achievable and thus strive for more competition on the particular maps

You need a Barry Bonds section for times that are way too high but aren't legit. People could still get "credit" without affecting the competition.

liming is not really a fix
because if they limed it themselves that would be wrong
He actually did change the wording too... making it a fix.

The goal is to get a time better than your previous best.

I was talking to a friend in gtalk as I fired it up. I told him I'd give him a running game review in real time.
My review consisted of:
"okay, intro cinematic of four people running from zombies. big Abomination zombie attacks at the end. starting it up now.
okay, taking an uzi and a pistol. there's health packs and weapons in the start room, kind of like counterstrike.
(long pause)
what the shit
WHAT THE SHIT
THEY'RE EVERYWHERE
OH GOD"
Then he didn't hear from me for 20 minutes as I ran around shooting zombies and being startled.
I am more impressed than I expected to be. This game is great.
You haven't really played L4D until you've played it online with friends using headsets. Hearing your friends scream for help is the best.
