MOTW 4-22-09: The 4th Little Pig was my favorite too!

Good week so far.

Jack of Fables #33 has some good scenes

The Literal Kevin is pretty much crazy, Jack's son who he had witht he Snow Queen inherited his mom's powers and is now looking for Jack, and Carl, the 4th Little Pig, becomes realized again by Snow, who drove Bigby to meet (and beat up) Jack, because Bigby can't drive:

jof33.jpg

jof33b.jpg

jof33a.jpg

Also, Jack Leaves his own book because Bigby stole his spot as the center of the story. I guess he's moving into the Literals now.

A good solid continuation with some laughs.

Also, Outsiders #17 impresses with more light being shed on the Insiders
After rescuing Katana from the drillbot, the Insiders kill their slave by releasing acid into the suit:

o17a.jpg

o17b.jpg

I love that last panel

o17c.jpg

And it turns out the meteorite that is being sought is the one that made Vandal Savage immortal, also making the Insiders seem to come form the same cavemen tribe. An Deathstroke appears at the end to help out the Insiders. Do I smell a rematch?

Mighty Avengers was also good, but way, way, too heavy on the Pym BJs, tot he point where I would skim the book in store before buying it again if this continues
Pietro saying that he was a skrull all along to make up for him being crazy during the Decimation era was a nice touch, and Loki is making his move to be the head of the Cabal.

They did not do that did they? Oh fuck do I hate Skrulls more than I already did. Someone give me a red lantern ring already. I feel some blood boiling.

No, Pietro's lying. They wouldn't retcon House of M like that. At least, I assume they wouldn't.

He's not a skrull, just saying he is on TV to try and fake everyone who's on his case (like the X-Men/Inhumans) to leave him alone. And it also meant a speech by Hank about how everyone gets a second chance to hit their wife.

I don't think Slott necessarily gets Pietro. I've noticed everyone else seems at least a bit less stiff, but Pietro still sounds weird when he writes him.

I mean, Pietro's not a retard. OOOOH BEES LET ME KILL THEM I GOT THIS GUYS!

I never used to read Avengers Quicksilver, but shouldn't he be somewhere along the lines of the X-Factor version? Even with the recent "born again" aspect in place?

Also, I noticed Pym's outfit is like a penguin tuxedo but the tail is supposed to look like the stinger on a wasp. It looks awkward:

Ok, Guardians of the Galaxy 13 is just a continually fun book. And Rocket Racoon is just awesome (scans):
Warlock, Gamora, Moondragon, Drax and Phyla (now Martyr) are back, so the team is big enough to split up to fix the time shifts that are occurring due to the War:

    gog13a.jpg
This scan is awesome just because of the way Racoon is drawn. Tyring to take him seriously is just funny, with is little hands waving around.

Then you have Crimsondude's sig, where they get ready to stand on a teleporter. And wait. Because Cosmo....

    gog13b.jpg

And Rocket's group fixes the space hole, but they get telported into space because of Shi'ar tech. The Starjammers pick them up. Why is this scan important?:

    gog13c.jpg

    That's right Rcoket Racoon/Ch'od fistbump!

I loved Gaiman's Detective this week. The Joker's 'not funny' scene, the good night book at the end, just about everything in it was perfect.

Goddam that thing with the dude
gluing the mask to his face, having it torn off his face, and then the dude living and being really broken in the head and painting masks on his ruined, nearly featureless face is going to give me terrifying nightmares. Not the gorey kind of terrifying, but the mind-cracking soul twisting sort.
    Damn you.

    X-force #14
Well there are no big twists but I must tell Stryfe's opening and landing was pretty awesome. Seeing a strong team like X-force so desperate certainly made my day.

Other than that it seems there is something fishy about Deadpool. I mean being locked to a fridge for a few decades can certainly add strange traits to a man but was he ever that good? The way he took down the search squad that X-Force was hardly handling was way out of his league. I will not be suprised if deadpool turns out to be a major player at this event.

We don't know that the newly created inmates never did anything terrible, but I also wouldn't expect them to create a whole new asylum just for the inmates who aren't super-criminals.

Also, sorry about posting that out of order.

    Regarding Deadpool:
Well, I'd assume that he acquired some better guns and such while working for Stryfe. Notice how he was blasting away and never once needed to reload.

Not only did I forget to buy Daredevil, which is indeed awesome, I forgot to get New Avengers. Going back this afternoon.

My art-moment of the week might have been the two page spread of Forge's house with the x-jet. If this is going to be Bianchi's "thing" with Uncanny, where we get a big gratuitous two-page landscape pron centerfolds all the time, I am seriously in favor of that.

A decent week, really. Ignition City #2 was good--made even better by coming out two weeks after Issue One.

MOTW had to be the final page of AMS# 592:
Peter swings by his Aunt May's to have a shower, hears noise from her bedroom, and opens the door to see May in bed with J. Jonah Jameson Sr. Naked Aunt May.

    Beat that, I dares ya.
