I don't see how it'd be that hard to fix up the classic zones. They can use fractals to create the terrain and ground textures, and that should be good enough, since no one has any reason to actually go there. It's not like they have to add new quests and NPCs and whatnot.
Of course, I'd rather they just removed flying mounts entirely.
There's a lot of fights in BC that would be fun. Those not re-used already.
I admit I would like to see an upgraded version of Al'ar.
I would not because from a healers standpoint Al'ar was fucking STRESSFUL. Whoops people took Meteor healzthetanOHSHITOFFTANKBLEWUPAKSJALKJK:SAJSL:JK.
The one fight in BC they should remake again is the greatest fight ever in WoW, and that's Kael. That fight had absolutley NO FLAW whatsoever. Vashj was just annoying. Illidan was pretty great, but at best was equal to the Kael fight. All of Sunwell made my eyes bleed, and Mur'u and Kiljaden would have been pretty great if it wasn't retardohard. Kael threw the goddamn kitchen sink at you. And then he threw Phoenix's at you. And then HE THREW YOU.
I mock whoever says that wasn't the bestest of best boss fights.
Since this raid is in the Argent Tournament, I imagine it will be "friendly" matches against people like Tirion and Mograine. Perhaps a few captured scourge as well. Though I guess it's not out of the question that they just redo Violet Hold and have a full scale Scourge attack on the coliseum that you must defend.
Was kind of hoping for something else though. There are so many places to add dungeons/raids to Northrend right now, yet from the looks of things it seems 3.2 will be this Tournament stuff, and 3.3 will be the Icecrown raid and that 5-man that was found in the files, and then that will be it until next expansion since Blizzard wants Arthas to be the final boss of this expansion.
Granted, Blizzard wants to accelerate their time table so that the next expansion is out sooner, but...
A)This is Blizzard, so how likely is that to happen? And...
B)It leaves a lot of wasted potential in Northrend.
I thought they'd stated in the past that there would be another full fledged raid before Icecrown was released. We still have plenty of time to fit in 3 or so more content patches.
-6 hours of "Blahblahblah". Seriously. I wanted to get at him just so I could stab him in the throat.
- One phase depended on the ability of people to move in 3-D. WoW isn't good at 3-D movement. The phase wasn't hard, but it sure as fuck was an annoyance.
- Weapon swapping. Cool in theory, but it lead to way too much vent chatter of "I need x, I need y".
- Most of the phases were so stupidly easy that they were mind numbing. "Hrm, I remember kiting the boss with a random aggro table around. It was pretty cool when it was called Buru and required actually getting him to the eggs and not finding deep water". Most of the phases had no challenge.
- Did I mention the fact that he wouldn't fucking shut up?
Kael had two parts of the fight that were a challenge. Getting the weapons down fast enough and burning down his shields to interrupt pyroblasts. Those were your challenges.

I hate getting into pugs that over explain the fight for hours then get pissed at people saying I have to go

Wow, that's rather BS, then. Burning Crusade managed to put together 5 lengthy raids, and Lich King is only going to have 3(ish)? One of which was a repurposed vanilla raid.

I am waiting till I go to blizzcon this year [tiny] wooo tickets! [/tiny]
to ask my question of why are they so sadistic about Windrunner and why did they lie?

Yeah but they've also been saying that one of their new release models is an expansion every year and a half or so, if I'm remembering right. That would put them on a fairly neat timeline. Argent Tournament in 3 or 4 months, then I'm going to guess Icecrown would be about 2 months after that. (My belief is the tournament is just a placehold raid while they put the finishing touches on IC)
We'll get the announcement of the next expansion in between all that, and it'll be released sometime in December, January or Feburary.

Yea I remember getting into an argument with a CM on that thread that they promised us free moves in, then decided not too. And then 3 weeks of not being able to start instances with that damn 'Additional Instances cannot be launched at this time' crap.
I do believe that Icecrown is supposed to be fucking HUGE though, with a ton of bosses, from what I remember of vague comments implied by Blue Posts and then immediately extropolated for hyperbole and such at various derivative forums.

The thing with Kael is that you can start the damn fight and explain it completely before it actually began.
I know but they explained the fight 5 times before we started and 2 more after his speach and the healer saying WTF over vent when he summons the weapons

Well, aside from them wanting to accelerate their releases, there were two things that cut out a lot of content for this expansion:
*The implementation of all raids having both a 10-man and 25-man mode. I believe this is why the Utgarde Keep raid that had been annouced a long time ago was probably scrapped. It was most likely originally intended to just be a 10-man Kara-like raid with King Ymiron as the final boss. I've also heard it theorized (though without any real proof) that Drak'Theron was going to be the 10-man Gun'Drak raid but when they dropped 10-mans, they moved it to a different location and made it a seperate 5-man.
*The removal of Azjol-Nerub as a full questing zone with it's own dungeons and a raid. It's almost certain that Yogg-Saron was supposed to be the raid boss here, not in Ulduar (which would have had a boss whom Loken/Chronus called "Father" who was likely a titan or large titan-construct). It's also possible Grizzlemaw was supposed to have a dungeon tied to this, but there's no proof from Blizzard of that other than it not currently being used for much of anything despite it's large map icon. When Azjol-Nerub was cut, there went their big 3.2 raid, and thus we get the Argent Tournament as filler.
I have no idea why we haven't gotten more dungeon/raids at the Wyrmrest Temple yet, though. I figured we probably wouldn't get all 5 during this expansion but I expected most of them would be used. So far it's looking like we may only get one more with 3.3 if we're lucky (if I had to guess, I'd say they'd stick Sindragosa behind the blue portal instead of having you fight her in Icecrown Citadel).

Grizzlemaw would only ever have been a 5man, tops.
It has its own name on the map, true, but all raid locations have big font names, Grizzlemaw has the same size as anywhere else.
So we were in ulduar 10 last night and I had a ticket open regarding an item retrieval. The big blue box thing popped up but we were just starting out our attempts at yogg 1 light in the darkness, a few wipes later and we scraped through a hilarious kill with both shaman healers ankhing up in p3 and the paladin healer dead from early in phase 2.
Really funny and ridiculous kill with the ranged dps crapping their pants due to being on 1-2 sanity for most of P3.
Anyway we just get him down when we get a GM applauding us for the kill in emote.
Was one of the funniest things I'd seen and my guildies didn't know what the hell was going on.
The guy couldn't retrieve my item but it was pretty funny to see him in our logs.

Yeah, a 5-man would be what I would have guessed as well for Grizzlemaw. Sorry if it sounded like I meant raid. I tend to say "dungeon" when referring to 5-mans even though I guess that's not terribly accurate.
I would be surprised if it isn't Maelstrom given the gigantic hints they stuck in the Arthas novel.
I wonder if we'll hear anything about it this year or if they'll wait until icecrown is out for a while first so they don't kill the enthusiasm for this expansion too quickly.
Tirion is calling in favors from every high being he knows to save the life of a heroic soldier who was infected with the plague. He's located near where the Argent Tournament is now. I know you try getting help from the Emerald Dream, the Red Dragonflight, and finally the Naaru. During one part you are shifted into a phased portion of Moonglade but aren't allowed to travel very far. You get attacked by a shadowy version of yourself if I remember right.

The seemingly random soldier in question is a tribute to someone of relationship to Blizzard who lost a battle with cancer.

The best part of that quest is that I still had the summon quest in my log for the AQ questline. Spawning a level 63 raid boss into a group of 30's and 40's was....amusing.

That quest lost a little of its poignancy when they built a giant coliseum right around the corner from the NPC in question.
"I came out here to be alone. No, don't mind the neighbours, they're not too noisy."
They could have taken great advantage of that, if they had made his quest a prereq for argent tournament, phased him out when you finished his quest line, and tied it in somehow.
Of course, people would QQ (and you would have to do most of the argent quests at the beginning of icecrown, which doesn't help).
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us

don't you need all those quests anyway to unlock shadow vault? I think I did them all to get that far.

I want to know more PA people on Twitter.
The only thing I can think of is entering the Twisting Nether and fighting the Legion head on with the end baddie being Sargeras.
I think the next one might be Emerald Dream and maybe Maelstrom

They have teased us about Emerald Dream since the opening of AQ
That was a really lame tease though - here, go to the same world you've always seen only greeeeen and haaaaazy!
