Upon closer inspection of the picture, they might have updated the model slightly from the older version, but all 5 of the new designs clearly share the same model with different color schemes. I'd imagine the older model without the accessories and such won't be available anymore.
I'd still expect the tauren cat to have horns, but maybe they'll clean it up a bit.
The problem has always been that mutant face the Tauren cat has. The Night Elf kitty has a smooth, slick face that goes with the stealth skills the cat has. Can't say the same about the Tauren model.
I'm fine if the Tauren cat lacks sleekness. Tauren aren't exactly sleek. The idea is fine, a big lion makes sense, it just looks pretty terrible in its current form.
Oh yeah, I'm the white haired night elf MOHAWK, so I get the gay looking bear form.

Well if the idea behind the Night Elf cat was 'stealthy prowler' and the (and I'm just guessing here) idea for the Tauren cat was 'hulking, feral attacker', they clearly nailed the former (or got as close as you can get with the models in-game at the time) and failed the latter. Bulk the Tauren cat up considerably (to complement the Tauren stature) and if you're going to go for a 'lion' look, go full or don't go at all. Give it a mane, maybe throw some sabertooth fangs in there and call it good. Leave the horns but by god, reduce them in size (or maybe re-shape them) so they're not so prominent.
Otherwise I'd say go the other way with it and give them a tiger look or something.
The tauren cat form does have a mane. And I've actually gotten used to it. I don't have it all that much anymore.

Well true, but the mane is pretty understated; I mean it's barely there. I think a larger mane coupled with a stockier, more imposing frame would make a huge difference in the appeal of that model.
Was supposed to be I don't hate it all that much anymore. Woops, if the new cat models look half as good as the new bears I'll be quite happy. To whoever was saying they're just reskins they did change the model. Note the number of toes and the new horns.
Tauren cat form is so fucking ugly. Not only is fecal brown an undesirable color but the horrible pigface is by far the most damning feature.
Night elf cat has always been super great and kind of amusing.
(btw wtf no new moonkin skins? every time I pass a night elf moonkin I'm always sad that they're so small and have neat antlers and are kind of fun looking, meanwhile I'm a big brown ball of blandness. and they are shockingly small, i passed one the other day and actually checked to see if he had a size reducing effect because I was like "wow he's tiny.")
I really hope they plan on doing a little more work with the forms. It seems like they're on the right track with the bear stuff but I was hoping for something a little more detailed(ala the flight forms).
I do like the tribal stuff for the tauren bear form and the different color skins. Kinda hoped they'd ditch the horns though. At least the faces look more animal-like and less twisted mutant humanoid.
I really want a new model for the tauren cat form(gimme a big hulking sabertooth tiger!). It'd be nice if they updated the travel/aquatic forms and differentiated the tree forms a bit. They could keep the yellow/red theme for taurens and the night elf trees could have the purplish leaves instead.

That's a really good point, I hadn't considered that. Yeah, a sabretooth cat might be a better route overall then.

They're planning on releasing images of the new looks in 3 more installments (tauren cats, nelf cats, nelf bears).
Essentially, though Kalimdor/Northrend/EK would all be one giant continent. But who knows how much has been altered by the "Nightmare" stuff.

Yeah, that's what I would want.
I guess I can see the idea of the bulky hulky cat, but I dunno, that doesn't really match up to what I expect cat form to be.
I think travel form looks okay, but then again it looks a damn sight better than tauren cat form.

I couldn't agree more. I'm more than happy with what we're getting. And who knows, maybe they will include travel form in there.
I'd like to see stags for NEs and a true Bull form or something for Tauren.
It's a generic mob model. A hunter pet. Though I guess that's not much worse than tree form...

I am fairly happy with the night elf forms, although I wish the cat wasn't crosseyed and the bear didn't look like it had downs.
Also if they made the tauren catform look like an actual lion, instead of a panther with horns and a mane, that would be cool.
