I'll be the first to admit, I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to hardware. I built my rig in November, but with the close help of a friend.
It has been running perfectly until today. Everything shuts down, I get a blue screen, and it has trouble booting up three times. Finally it loads, but everything is on the lowest resolution. When I finally get it back to the regular resolution, there are vertical lines going down my screen.
Vista's troubleshooting told me it shut down my graphics card because of a code 43. Also my 6to4 Network Adapter was disabled. I don't know if this is related.
Google provided me with several forums complaining of similar Code 43s, but with no solutions, and it's hard to see what is on the screen anyway with these lines.
So I know my graphics card is not working now, but I don't know if it's dead or what. My drivers are up to date.
I'm running:
Vista 32 bit
2 Gigs RAM
Intel Core 2Duo 3 Ghz
Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT
Gigabyte S-Series motherboard
Any advice would be appreciated.
Edit: Also, the option to Sleep my computer on the start menu has been disabled. If that helps.

Other forums suggest it's an Nvidia bug that hasn't been fixed. Hmmm.

Also, can you try to use your gfxcard in another persons computer? If no one is avaliable that you can try it in, see if you can get it tested at a local computer store or maybe best buy? Just have them check to see if it runs alright or whatever.
Edit: so it looks like a code 43, according to MSFT, is the default reply when the device fails. So make sure its clean, make sure all your case fans are working and moving the correct amount of air, make sure the power supply is strong enough not only for your video card, but also for all the other thing connected to the system.
