DW, I've disagreed on both of the comics you've suggested shortening, I think Fletch has a pretty clean grasp on pacing.

They're ok, I just thought in those cases there were lots of single panels with one piece of dialogue to fill out space.

Unless you mean that single panel I put on the other page, that was just an idea for a t-shirt.

OKAY so this is the tee design i'm probably going to be putting up first

    changetee.jpg

    centered on the chest

the blue is just an example colour, but i probably wouldn't be going much darker for the colour of the t-shirt itself

what does everyone think of it?

hey fletcher, this is totally unrelated to what you are asking (which i like btw, esp .50 cents and .20 cents) but where did you get your font? did you make it yourself?

I'm not talking about the last particular comic but if that's his real handwriting, it's too uniform to be true

Ah, sorry, i meant to imply it was made from his own handwriting.

I still could be wrong about that though.

(and i'm not sure why i put "font" in quotes.... i'm really tired and not thinking or typing clearly)

I don't love it, it's not that it's bad, I just think you could do better.

what the heck is "the whole change thing"? is it an obama thing?

i wasn't intending any kind of commentary on american political stuff, because i know nothing about it :/

i am just a creature of habit and change scares me

so far i'm planning to have this one and a "mystery solved" tee (hopefully) available by next week

p.s. ZEROID the font is made of my handwriting, and is available from a link in my sig if you wanted it

Fair enough, but whether that was your intention or not, the whole Obama Change thing has been so fucking dominant in popular media it's going to be impossible from stopping people drawing that connection. Like I said, the idea is clever, the execution is well done, it's just walking into a pool of political commentary whether it wants to or not.

Then again, maybe that's just me? Anyone else getting that or is my media radar on the wrong frequency again?

OKAY so these are the t-shirts i am thinking of selling:

    change_icegray_big.jpg

    on a mens' shirt:
    change_icegray_tee_mens.jpg
on a womens' shirt (sadly white is the only colour it doesn't look awful on)
    change_white_tee_womens.jpg

    mystery_black_big.jpg

    on a mens' shirt
    mystery_black_tee_mens.jpg
    on a womens' shirt
    mystery_black_tee_womens.jpg

Are there any glaring flaws in these? Is the positioning okay?

I have NO idea about tee design, so any pointers would be appreciated!

The Change ones look very faint on the t-shirts, the character designs at least. I dont know how itd look in practice but they look almost invisible to me.

Fletch did you see the idea Tam and I came up with on the previous page?

i did see it, and it is awesome! at the moment i don't really want to do one that looks like a panel from the comic though

if it gets more popular then i definitely will do one like that!

but at the moment i want more universal THINGS instead of using fletcher or copernicus on them :P

and yeah good point about the faintness on the change shirt, i'll have to fiddle around with the contrast a bit i guess

Can you get a near full-size version of the pic? It might just look faint because its so tiny and its gray on gray. Might look perfectly fine in practice like your full-size version.

And I think you underestimate the appeal of Fletcher.

The character not the artist :x

I do not mean this in a derogatory way. Would the new mystery solved with the rainbow design imply that the wearer was gay and recently out of the closet? That's what it reads to be without detective Fletcher.

Ok, fletch - I think the tshirt designs are awesome and I would totally wear the Mystery Solved shirt. My advice is to crank 'em out to take advantage of the expected traffic boost - there will be time later to consider design and whatnot, especially if you manage to retain a good percentage of the readership.

Moreover, if things go well, you sell some stuff and traffic increases, you might want to see if you can sign up with Topatoco, as was suggested before - and my understanding is that they work together with the artists on merch design, so you can take advantage of their (hefty) experience in the area. And you'll have more chance getting them to accept you if you've already got some products/sales under your belt, as well as decent traffic. So basically, my thinking is that you shouldn't sweat it too much for now - this is time sensitive, so let's just see if you can make a couple of bucks.
