Nah, the second panel is the best panel. That expression is priceless.

Are you sure you're talking about the last comic, Sanchez??

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you like the comic. But I can't really see the appeal of the second panel, and it doesn't seem like much of a joke without the last panel. I am confused!

Also, I just finished a new strip (!)

cavemen could only be killed by bullets, so they lived for a very long time

cavemen rode giant tigers the size of mountains

cavemen flew to the moon inside a hollowed out tree, one at a time

    these are facts about cavemen

I didn't get a chance to eat anything this morning, and now I'm laughing really hard at this comic, and it hurts because my stomach is empty, and why do your comics keep hurting me, Fletcher? Why?

reading my comics consumes a small portion of the food in your stomach

if you haven't eaten, it consumes your stomach lining instead

Hilarious! Definitely my favourite in a while. I love that while he's on fire, he has a look of pure conviction. Not even burning flesh can make him stop being silly.

look, I'm just not very good at complicated and devious trickery

like the time I tried to make a prank call, and you ended up losing all those toes

no, I am not "finally apologizing" for that

I'm just using it as an example

is the spray bottle thing needed, do you think? Looking back it seems kind of unnecessary and possibly distracting

I kinda like it. It's as if he knew every move Copernicus was going to do before he did, and so he came prepared. Also I love the last panel on it's own as is, because it's almost as if he's treating the bottle like a gun.

wait wait wait wait... you were eastering!? without me!? :(... :'(

and i know giving the mayor a lamp on his roof that shines a light in the shape of a cock would pay off eventually, of course all the homeless guys that show up looking for something else is quite distracting.

Also I like the spray bottle cleaner, as it implies fletcher isnt adlibbing something to cover for being scared of a spider, rather it was just his intention to get copernicus to clean his bathroom.

edit: so yeah im just agreeing with nan, teach me to take forever to write a response

New strip woo! Tried to post it here last night but I got constant "server is busy" messages

I'm TRYING to wean myself off wasting so much time trying to "perfect" the circles etc. I draw, in an effort to actually bring some more energy and sense of movement back into the strip.

Not really noticeable with this one, but that will be happening. Expect it!

    2011-04-29.jpg
first the hula hoop made of razors, and now this

i mean the fun level is still through the roof, no question about that

alright I am making myself draw stuff faster, and I seriously can't tell the difference in the end result

it is equal parts pleasing and infuriating, because now I realise how many hours I have wasted being pedantic about every line without any real benefit

oh well! at least I can draw stuff a bit faster in future

Yeah PikaPuff I was gonna do that, but I inevitably get twenty comments of 'I DON'T UNDERSTAND, WHY DID YOU COVER UP THE WORDS SO I CAN'T SEE THEM?' whenever I try something like that

Personally I think it looks better like that though, and more believable than cramming into one corner ad leaving a sixth of the page blank. Good eye!

(alternatively, pretend that there is a giant cock drawn on the covered section of the page)

this g-string, however, is very much part of the costume

a 16th century antique: very rare, very authentic

what is everyone thinking of the recent strips?

I know that I definitely need to focus on drawing more backgrounds/different settings

but is there anything annoying about the layout or the bubbles or anything? I am worried that maybe I am making mistakes with established comic conventions :0

I wouldn't sweat the layout or bubbles or anything. They're clear and the procession of text flows naturally. I don't think I've ever seen you cross your speech bubbles or anything like that.

Beard comic didn't do much for me, but I think it was mostly casue it was too drawn out with not much oomph at the end. It seemed like the same comic could've been done with like 1/2 the panels.

The ninja comic fared much better though IMO.

cheers for the critique EWA! yeah the "whole page" format can be a little annoying for simpler jokes; I'll have to make an effort to cram more mid-strip jokes in when I have a drawn-out strip.
