So are any of you SEer's out there divorced with kids? I'm getting ready to take my ex back to court for more custody of our 12 year old son. He wants to live with me, so that's a plus in our favor. I was just wonder if any of y'all have gone through this. I know I could have gone to HA, but I'd rather get a few laughs with the advice.
Just keep in mind that he may be wanting to live with you because he thinks you will spoil him and he can use you to get back at his mom who makes him do all those evil chores.
Remember to hit him so he knows that this is not the case and now he's going to learn to be a man.

Nah, his mom isn't totally a bad person, but he can't stand his stepdad. I just got remarried and he adores my wife and has been staying for years that he wants to live with me more. I just move to Williamsburg (where my ex lives) and am about 10 minutes away from her. So we've got a strong case I think for shared custody.

Hey, I bet my girlfriend VisionofClarity could provide helpful insight on parents who get divorced and have kids. Her folks have done it a bunch.
Also, OP, this would actually be something more-suited to H&A, though posting about something like this on an internet forum is usually not going to bear much useful advice.
At 13 my best friend went to live with her father because she hated her bitch mother. Her mother didn't want to give up the child support but couldn't do much when Ashley went to her dad's and refused to go home, then threatened to take off if she had to go back and added that all of her sisters lived with her mom and most of them got knocked up in high school and she didn't really see a future for herself in that house.
My parents got divorced but my mom kept us because my dad worked crazy hours so we just visited a lot (I was 17 and could drive the 15 minutes easily).

My mom and dad are still together! I mean, yeah, they fight a bunch or display passive-agressive bullshit tendencies to each other and to their children but they're pretty good people pretty-much.
There was brief consideration of divorce but my mother didn't wanna do that to my siblings and I.
When I was away at college my father started hitting the gym and through that he became more socially-amiable and now he's a much-cooler guy.
A shame my sister is a straight-up bitch due to lazy parenting and years of constant enabling so my mother is slowly losing her mind completely.

I'm just a little bitter about it.
