I figure it is, but is printscreen the screenshot button? I figure the pause mode is set up so you can take some cool action shots, but I don't read manuals or options or anything and I'm currently at work... Sue me!

Too bad this game can't be played in coop. That's the only thing preventing me from buying this. I am the kind of person who enjoys Action RPG as long as I can play them with a friend. On my own, I tend to get bored. It's so much more fun to run through these kinds of game playing with a friend.
I like the "art" style of the game. The game looks great, seems to be great (from the gameplay video). I was said to hear that they were focusing on their "MMO" type game instead of trying to take a bit of time to tack a multiplayer option to this game. Hell, I'd even pay 30$ (10$ more) if I was able to play this game with my friend over the internet.
I'm playing this game "wrong" in that I'm an alchemist who dual-wields pistols, but it's so cool. I just run in and let my wolf/robot tank for me and blow zombies' faces off, and occasionally spam iceshock in big crowds.
ill admit i just saw on D2D that it was one of the most downloaded and it was a spur of the moment purchase. im an avid mmorpg player.. using just the mouse isnt Troublesome. just well..... boring. its like im browsing a webpage. The game looks cool and i can see how it would be fun. but in this day and age . the lack of a keyboard/mouse option.. or gamepad option. seems unnecessary.. i mean why shouldnt one be able to use w,a,s,d atleast for movement purposes... anyways im not here to bash it. just figuring out this genre is not for me ..... anyone know if Diablo 3 will be set up same way cause i was intrigued by what ive seen of that game... unless...
Ok, how have you not played Diablo 2 or any of the THREE MILLION clones that have saturated the market in recent years? I am thoroughly amazed that anyone over the age of 14 could go 'whut? mouse control hack & slash?'. No offense man, but if the control method was genuinely news to you then you don't get out much.
I'm trying to parse this post, because I thought Diablo-type games were the antithesis of getting out much.
Maybe he meant out much of his comfort zone for games? Lets be honest, posting on this board isn't exactly something people with a healthy social life do...

I actually went to a party last weekend. We played Rock Band and Blaz Blue. There was drinking and a midnight burger run as well. It was pretty awesome.
We would have played some 30-player Torchlight, but, you know. No multiplayer.
I am really intersted in what they intend to do with multi, are they going to go with a true mmo style where there is a world map with player interaction? Or 4 player co-op more in line with diablo? I would love an mmo done in this mouse style though as it would be a lot more casual based than even wow. I want an MMO where you work with other people, but don't have to fucking raid. SCREW RAIDING!

You should try binding "attack" to the ellipsis key on your keyboard, it should feel more natural.
Actual Content: I've seen a lot of love for the exploding shot on a vanq, but I still haven't put points into any offensive skill that isn't ricochet. Is the DPS really that much higher?

No, the DPS actually doesn't rise as fast, but it can be easier to hit more dudes. I use both, because that's how I roll. I have my 400 DPS pistol for damage, and my health leech fastest rifle to heal.
I haven't actually used any mods yet. What's good?
Area of effect is where it's at for my playing style. Combined with something that knocks them back, it's a lot easier to deal with a horde of enemies rather than just hammering one enemy. Even if they were one-shot kills I would get overwhelmed.
I'm still young to the game, but as a destroyer my bread and butter is still that opening cleave attack, I love gathering around a swarm and swinging a mighty arc of death that splatters some and sends the rest sprawling.

I was playing a Summoner Alch in the demo on Very Hard. The imps are kinda weak, aren't they? Also, does the Alch get any good AoE skills?
I'll pick this up with the next free $20 I have, and would like to do something along the lines of AOE + Tanking Pet, with maybe a good single-target DPS skill for bosses.

So far i'm having decent luck with imps/golems/flaming swords (spell) coupled with that ember lance thing.
Only complaints about the lance are how z-axis owns it, like stairs and ramps.
I'd also love a very pet-heavy build with a ranged AOE skill for supplemental DPS, and maybe a single-target killer for bosses.
Open to suggestions!
Probably a stupid question but- is there anyone you can talk to in town that will restore your HP? Kinda like how talking to certain NPC's in Diablo II restored both your meters?
Also thinking of starting a Vanquisher. What stats do you pump for her- Dexterity seems the obvious choice, but does she need Strength? (I'm thinking some points in Defense would be nice as well.)

There isn't, which is annoying, really. You have you buy potions.
It's the little flaws like that which give me the impression that they did the bare minimum playtesting to finish the main campaign without crashing and nothing else. Not game-breakingly awful, but the little annoyances do tend to pile up after a while.

Anyhoo...my new Alchy is flying. He will be a beamer, summon mecha beamers and lil beamer turrets. Gentleman, he will lazor hard. Oh yes, he will.
Maybe its because I'm early on, but I have more potions than I do health to replace them with...
I'm in the same situation. Three stacks of health potions now, barely using them since I'm an Alchemist relying on my golems and pet- and using Ember Shield.
So, Vanquisher? Pump Dex and Def, go to town (or mine, in this case)?
When I started my vanquisher I got a unique item in the 1st level, with some goodies waiting in the shared stash. Got pimped pretty hard, I'll upload a shot later.

The Dreamcast game Record of Lodoss War was a BAD-ASS Diablo clone where you manually controlled your character with the analog stick and could swing your weapon with a button. Honestly, that's what I'd prefer, but this isn't a console game. I would seriously trade mouse/keyboard for that control scheme any day of the week.
The ps1 diablo port was pretty much "push button kill man". It worked out pretty well, but I'm weird and prefer the keyboard and mouse approach of Torchlight.
Driving your character with the arrow keys or wasd wouldn't be a bad thing. Walking back by clicking through a cleared level is pretty lame I have to say. It'd be OK if you could bring up the corner map and set a waypoint or something but the pathfinding isn't up to that kind of complex thinking.

How are you guys playing destroyers? I'm building mine around doomquake, that phantom blade (or whatever the tier 1 titan ability is called) and defensive talents in the Titan and Spectral trees. So far I don't really take damage, ever, and the paltry 6 HP return each hit is enough to keep me topped off all the time.

For my Vanquisher, I've put about 95% of my points into Dex and had no problems. For equipping armor, you'll probably want magic more than defense, which is a bit counter-intuitive. This is because attack speed has nothing to do with how fast you use skills, whether it's base weapon speed or extra attack speed on gear (this also makes weapon DPS as a measure of how much damage it will do more or less worthless). How fast you can spam skills is dependent on cast speed, even for non-magical skills like Ricochet and Explosive Shot. Since faster cast speed is primarily found on magic-requiring gear, you'll want some magic.

I see.
So, would it be pointless to put any points into Def? Or should I put some there anyway?
I was thinking, per level, 3 dex, 2/1 mag, 0/1 def.

Personally, I feel that's too little dex. But how much magic and defense you need is totally determined by what equipment you have available. I would just pump dex entirely until you find yourself unable to equip a majority of the available armor, and then pump the required stat for that armor until you're good to go. That's just generally how I play the stat allocation game. If you prefer a more balanced approach, I would guess about an 8:1 ratio of dex:mag will keep you outfitted well enough. Sprinkle points in defense too if you like. I decided to go the magic route and missed out on a couple of upgrades because my defense was too low, but I later found upgrades for the same slot that required magic so it didn't matter much. But I haven't finished the game either, so things could change in the later levels.
Think I'll get my def to a nice round number and stop there. What's the highest def requirement you've seen for something you wanted to put on her?
I have no idea. If I see red "defense" text, I just vendor it. Keeps me from getting distracted with thoughts like "well if I just had three more points of defense..."
so, as a vanq/alch, what do you use for armor? is there armor with magic or dex req?
I have an alch, and I pump my stats 3 magic, 2 def per level. I've seen armors that require one or both. Kinda up to you- I just want to get my def stat to a nice number (came in handy when I picked up two unique pieces) and leave it there so I can put all the rest into magic.
I try to look for faster cast items. There are also pieces that increase elemental damage; depending on what I'm using, I tailor my armor to take advantage of that.
Vi Monks: Haha, I see what you mean. I'd be more like "Well, if I gained X levels..."
How do most of you play the destroyer? dual-wield, sword/board, 2hnd? i'm using sword/board right now, but i'm not sure if more damage would be better. i'm lvl 13 right now btw.
been pumping points into offence/defense mastery, that warstomp skill, and adventurer, and a few in entropic aura.
Dual-wielding for more damage seems to be a lot better than sword-and-shield. All of your special attacks take both weapon DPS into account, and I've never found a shield so good that it made up for taking twice as long to kill the thing pounding on me.
