Help with dual monitors.

I can't seem to get my video card to display anything out of the DVI slot. I have 2 LCD monitors any ideas why neither of them will display anything through the DVI?

    What kind of video card? What OS? How are you going about setting up the 2nd monitor (it's not just plug and play).
