Well, my third replay actually got saved. Me vs Vega, was not as impressive as my Zangief win. He was overall not a great Vega. First win of the day, beat a decent Rufus, Boxer and Sagat too.

Looking over my prior losses it seems like my biggest problems are still with shotos. I'm not sure why though. Will have to practice with Stoked some more!

So, playing against a Dhalsim who isn't bad, and on a knockdown I stupidly decide to go for the throw.

Then he reversal ultras and I'm all D:

The I grab him through his giant flaming ball of death somehow and throw him for the win as the fireball harmlessly sails trhough me and I'm all like o_O Then I'm like :)

yeah, you can even start the throw during the ultra start up animation and go through it. I can't help but laugh when sims use their ultra defensively.

I've used it defensively a bunch. Like you've said it isn't the smartest thing with the opponent right on top. BUT it is sweet to do a wake up ultra teleport behind someone only to have them jump back instinctively right onto it. Or similar set up teleport behindand punch them into it and juggle them back and forth between punches ultra kick ultra etc etc. Granted this is rare, but incredibly awesome when the desperation move wins the round.

My favorite thing to do with Seth is doing a 3x headstomp while they're in the corner, bouncing off the immediate wall, bouncing off the opposite wall and delivering another 3x headstomp only to start the process all over again.

I lost like 5 times in a row before going to sleep last night and I'm pretty sure I went back to the main menu. So yeah, I have 1% disconnect for not disconnecting, good going capcom.

8% is pretty high but he could have just had a low number of total games, it really should show the total disconnects too. Though I wouldn't really trust that either, it's pretty stupid how they made it possible to rack up the disconnects without ever disconnecting from a game.

I am absofuckinglutely tired of fucking Shoto's I hate to come into this thread to bitch but I lose one fucking round to Akuma then I fight 6 more fucking Akuma's then a fucking Ken I can't have fun with this fucking game if all I fight is the same character. I stop learning how to get better because all I can focus on is how fucking stupid Akuma's roundhouse is and I'm god damn tired of my controller not blocking the fucking direction i'm holding.

I want to get better but this game makes it so hard. Doesn't help that there are a ton of characters I want to learn. I think Boxer then Abel, any tips?

Having a good dashing move in your arsenal does wonders to hamper El Fuerte (Blanka/Vega/Gen rolls, Bison's scissors or psycho crusher) but you also need good escape or "get the hell off me" move to avoid his goddamned mixup game (Gen's EX-Oga, Chun's EX-SBK, various hurricane kicks, etc.)

if i could hit confirm in time to throw out a psycho crusher instead of scissors, i would win 30% more

a jump in HK, low MK/MP to crusher does massive damage. just massive.

Nope. Super moves are the same no matter what punch/kick, but special moves are different, and can sometimes have very different properties.

.... really? many of them are very different depending on that button you use.
her LK version comes out a lot faster and doesn't last as long or go as far but it also does less damage.

edit: you're wrong too shady! Super moves can be different depending on what punch or kick you use, for example cammy's spin drive smasher(?) when done with LK has a very short spiral arrow portion before going into the cannon spike part, the arrow part gets longer with MK and even longer with HK. Rose's super fireball travels much faster when you use HP than it does with LP and MP is like a medium speed.

Gen has some pretty wonky super properties too but i don't play him so i'm not really sure what they are.

EX moves are always the same. It doesn't matter which two punches or kicks you use. There's basically four types of any given special move. Light, medium, heavy and ex.

Edit: Beated. But since I was, let me add some extra info: Ex moves rarely just do more damage. In fact, many times you'll find they do less or the same damage. This shoryuken thread is a pretty comprehensive guide to ex move differences.

Is it just me or does it seem like seth is way better than capcom intended him to be?

I fought another chun, beat him the 1st round and we had a pretty clutch 2nd, I was down to a sliver of health and knocked down so he does his ultra to chip me away but I time my wakeup ultra just right for the win :)
He did something that I didn't know was possible though, he did a 3x headstomp on me in the corner then followed it up with the nuetral j.HK all in the same jump. It was pretty neat.
