I faced one Seth the other night and he was godly. I could not get in on him. Maybe a shoto might have better luck with a fast srk to beat his jumping fp. That jumping fp is just so rough to get through when you combine it with his other moves.

I fought another chun, beat him the 1st round and we had a pretty clutch 2nd, I was down to a sliver of health and knocked down so he does his ultra to chip me away but I time my wakeup ultra just right for the win :)
He did something that I didn't know was possible though, he did a 3x headstomp on me in the corner then followed it up with the nuetral j.HK all in the same jump. It was pretty neat.

Yeah, Seth has some really good tools on him.

    Shitty health though.

Woot, won my first g2, though it looked like this sagat had never seen a chun before because he just fell for every trick in the book. Uploaded the video anyway though, just because savage sagat beatings are always fun to watch.

There's nothing too good about Seth. Based on what I've seen at our tournaments I think a lot of people are just falling for some of his blockable and avoidable tricks – like the Sonic Boom, Teleport, SPD trap and wall-jump crossups. Over time people will get used to the match-up and learn to handle him a bit more effectively.

Oh yeah, I'm sure it's mostly just the fact that I have only played against one seth before him, once I figure that bastard out he's all mine.

edit: oh i played a rose, it was pretty funny, on her wakeup i would do chun's mp fireball (real slow travel with fast recovery) and he would bust out his ultra only to get hit by the slow fireball. Did it in both rounds too.

Anti: if you make a US PSN account you will be able to download from the US store. If you check my rank in SF you will see it says i'm from the UK which I am not. That's just how I have the store set up on this account.

You can, that was for the MvC reply you had in game. You should make a US account to download it.

I am having a very losing night. I just lost a championship match to a Balrog two rounds to one. And in Round 1? I had him. I should have won. He did a fullscreen rushing ultra at low health.

AND THEN I GET A CROUCHING PUNCH INSTEAD OF MY EX DRAGON PUNCH.

The guy had over 5k GP, too. Cheated out of an extra 52 points because I couldn't make the joystick hit two microswitches in sequence.

On the other hand, just beat Blitz Rawket for a championship. That match wasn't quite so losing.

I try to stay away from that MK combo, the first hit is too slow and the 2nd and 3rd are too unsafe if the 1st got blocked.

And they all play the same. Beating them gives no solace, as the game is boring as fuck when its an endless stream of Ryu players that all play the exact same way.

What bracket are you in? Once you get to G2, things get a lot more diverse. There's still shotos aplenty, but I've also run into a lot of Guiles, Sakuras, Cammys, and even some Vegas. I played a really good Dhalsim and Gouken just earlier, too.

I also ran into Sabre twice in CE just some minutes ago. Traded wins (though his was for the whole tournament, bastard :P ). Was some lag that second time around, though. It was smooth as silk when I first got on but then I got delay in all my matches past a certain point. I didn't even have anything else eating my connection... I got signed out a little while later, so I guess something was up with PSN.

All I know is, forget about using Chun Li with any input lag. I was just barely beating scrubby Ryus and Kens because they'd keep jumping around and my AA normals would come out too late. Sigh... This game has really good online sometimes, almost as good as a local match, but when it starts to falter, good god.

Chun's options are just more obtuse than other characters'... Her AA is like Dhalsim's--it's all about spacing out and timing your normals. s. MK probably has the most applications and is the safest. s. HP and HK work from further away. But this is all moot if there's input lag because the shit never comes out fast enough. There's still always EX spinning bird, though.

She's got herself some ground combos. cr. LK's -> EX legs, cr. fierce -> MK spinning bird, and you can cancel a normal into hazanshu for a reset that catches a lot of people sleeping (and then link cr. LK -> EX lags when you land). She has a ton of options really, some of them just come up in really specific situations.

I know this is stating the obvious, but I love all the changes from the update. Championships are less stressful than ranked matches (in my opinion) and consistently lead to better opponents, with more variety. Replays are also most excellent.

I'm slowly getting better with Gouken, but there's one thing I can't do that I really need to be able to do. Following up his EX senku (dash punch). As of now, all I can follow it up with is a HP senku, or a MP senku online in fear of input lag. What I can't do consistently is a dash into a HK Tatsu. I can, however, pull off the EX Gohadoken to Ultra against a wall.

Lately, I've been using Gouken's super more often than I probably should. Whenever I have it, I keep going for senkus or counters until something hits, for a free super. It may not be worth the bar in some cases, but I just enjoy doing it so much.

it was nice and easy though.... once i finally found people to play...

I'm worried about how Championship mode is going to be once people start getting into G1. The points required to do so is ... a lot ... so a lot of the people are simply not going to make it to G1 for a long time. I think I'm almost halfway there myself, but I almost don't know if I want to and have been intentionally slowing down a little.

There's going to be hardly any fights for a long time for the first big wave of people who hit G1 and it'll be dull.

I think too many play modes exist for online, now, with spreading people out (Ranking, Player, Champ Mode with its own 4 diff brackets to separate people).

Besides that, though, Champ Mode is great :). Lot of variety in opponents and generally good, although there seemed like a lot of new just-hit-2k people last night.

My favorite anti-Bison strategy is Gouken's high parry against head stomp. In my experience, it's the only reliable way to punish it.

For Blanka, I fight them so infrequently that I just throw out SPDs and clotheslines and hope for the best.

The best generic way to punish a headstomp is to dash backwards and do a quick bnb when they land. If he goes for a devil's reverse, FA into a combo.
