When he starts to do that arced lightening move, time it so that he fires it close to himself and get a little less than half a screen away from one. Use Thousand Daggers. It has that long cool down time afterwards so you can't repeat it but is uses very little MP so you can use it three or four times, which is more than enough to get the job done.
Don't get too far away or he'll jump at you, which is tedious and doesn't really help or hurt either way.
Lots of Dracula X bosses are back in this game, good stuff.

[spoiler:3a3f93e926]I used Charlotte against Dracula and Death, then mainly Jonathan vs. True Dracula.
Vs. Dracula and Death, I had Charlotte equiped with the homing light spell. Death's attacks mainly consist of hovering around until he's above you and then a downward slash that's easy to see coming and avoid. Dracula's attacks mainly consist of teleporting somewhere and firing magic horizontally, either a series of small fireballs that can be destroyed by attacking them, larger meteors you have to jump over and slide under, or a bat swarm that you should try to slide under or jump over so you only get hit once or twice. Whenever I had a moment, like after Dracula finished attacking or while he was finishing teleporting, and Death wasn't right above me, I would charge up the light spell and let it rip, doing 200 or sometimes 400 damage to one or both of the bosses. Occasionally I'd unleash Divine Storm or whatever that combo is called for the invincibility, if it looked like I was about to get hit hard. I did have to use most of my potions and high potions during this phase, and some tonics too.
Once they went down and True Dracula came up, I switched to Jonathan with vampire killer and the bible sub-weapon, and switched Charlotte's spell to Chain Lightning. I just had Jonathan out most of the time, dodging and whipping. When Dracula did the crushing walls thing, I would bring out Charlotte, switch to her, use Divine Storm, then keep casting Chain Lightning and using the Bible until the crush attack ended. Then switch back to solo Jonathan, rinse, repeat. I had to dip into my food supplies during this phase.[/spoiler:3a3f93e926]

[spoiler:2eed4df04c]No change to the ending. However, you don't unlock a bonus mode if you don't power up the whip. So there's no reason not to do it. The fight is piss easy too once you figure out how to break his attack pattern.[/spoiler:2eed4df04c]

OK, sent this off. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. Spoilers for bonus modes:
[spoiler:7abbf4bba5]Dear Konami,
I recently bought Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for my DS. Upon beating it, I was happy to learn of several bonus modes, including one starring the Lecarde sisters.
I am left-handed. I assumed that, like many games using the touch screen, this mode would allow me to flip the button configurations so that I could control the game while holding the stylus in my preferred hand. But I was wrong.
I won't make idle threats: I love the series, and will keep buying the games no matter what. But it seriously bothers me to see this kind of disdain towards a sizable minority of people, even in a bonus mode. Please consider left-handed people when making your next DS game.
Sincerely,
me[/spoiler:7abbf4bba5]
