I'm in the Nest of Evil. Anyone have any tips for the room with two of "The Creature"? I can get past it if I pull out all of the stops and just unload everything but then I die instantly in the next room with tons of those super high damage frog-men or whatever. Thus I'd like to pass it with taking less damage... it just seems very difficult to avoid their attacks when there are two of them.

    [spoiler:469ed292b0]Axe Bomber wrecks their shit.

Also, you can jiggle your whip around (shut up) to block their machine gun bullets.

Just stay ESPECIALLY mindful of those missiles they fire. Those are what really get you.

Hm, I just had an idea, actually... I never actually did it myself, but maybe you could use Taunt to lure both The Creatures near enough to each other to hit them both with a single Axe Bomber. I managed to land one of those and it did tons of good.[/spoiler:469ed292b0]

Ah... I just had Jonathan out.

[spoiler:889e903dfe]Does Dark Rift use a lot of MP? I know Axe Bomber gets kind of intensive on the stuff, and gets tricky to keep in check.

For those Cave Trolls, yeah, 1,000 Blades is brilliant. I just used my whip, but the important thing is to keep as much distance as possible. And, of course, never take on more than one at a time. You might need to give that L-button some exercise. So, did anyone else notice that the description of "Greatest Five" says that it "summons...four warriors"? Probably a typo, but I'd like to think it's more like, "Nah, one of those guys isn't so great."

    HAHA, that's what I thought.
I'm finding it difficult distinguishing between Trevor and Simon. They look nearly the same. I'm guessing the last one is Trevor who sometimes uses an old sprite while the one that shows up earlier in the order is Simon.
    I'm pretty sure it goes:

[spoiler:c7950d61cc]Richter, Leon, Trevor, Juste, Simon--I might have mixed up the second-to-last ones.[/spoiler:c7950d61cc]
[spoiler:c7950d61cc]That's exactly it. And as a cute easter egg, sometimes Simon comes out in his 8-bit sprite. I also thought it was humorous that they turned Leon into a sprite.

Took me a while to figure out to figure out who the 3rd one was, until I realized you fight the copy Trevor as a boss and it's probably him. I thought it might have been Christopher at one point.[/spoiler:c7950d61cc]

I was hoping of making the miser ring more rediculous than that but I understand.
The miser ring's the one that increases your attack based on how much gold you have, right?

...so how much damage do you do with that much gold? :P

Also, the voice snippet for Greatest Five is "Warriors Revived!".

Several of them are like that. For instance, for Meteor, they say "Meteor Strike!".

Dracula will pull off a massive AoE attack that takes up almost the entire arena. If you aren't at the opposite end to Dracula, you will take major damage, and if you aren't fully-healed will probably die right off the bat. If Death creates an M-shaped line of white sickles, Dracula will absorb them and each sickle he absorbs will be sent your way as a single fiery ball of death. When you see the sickles, either destroy them all (anything works) or use Charlotte's fully-charged Clear Skies. Charlotte must be your main character, and Clear Skies must be fully charged, otherwise the area of effect will be far too small to destroy all the sickles. Dracula spends most of his time teleporting around and through fireballs in whatever direction he's facing. They travel slowly and move in a predictable pattern, so they're easy enough to dodge (simply jump over them). However, if Dracula is not standing at the ends of the arena, it is best to make sure you are behind him. He'll merely launch his projectiles at... the darkness![/spoiler:afebe827f0]

    Hope that helps.

This game is just too awesome but I'm finding some parts really freakin hard. And one of the quests I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong on. [spoiler:066704e971]Ghosty says to press down, right, left, right and Y, I'm doing it but for some odd reason it isn't doing anything. Am I not doing the combo fast enough?[/spoiler:066704e971]

I really wish the co op was something other than a boss kill thing. I've tired it once and haven't done it again. Maybe the next one will offer full story mode co op with the monsters being harder or something. It would be awesome.

Well it's +99 atk, 149 atk total and 137 damage against a Red Axe Armor. I'm on my third playthrough (hard, level cap 25) and I'm at the 4th painting (forest of doom). I'm only now running into regular monsters that I can't one shot with the Nebula. There have been a few of the giant armors and other big monsters like the dragon zombie before this that have taken more than one shot but I don't consider them "regular".

The first few bosses took me only a few hits which was nice.

So I'm about to fight the last boss, but I'm collecting all the enemy drops and finishing the last quest for Charlotte. My map percentage is at 998.40%. All that's left (at least, I think all that's left) is the last boss' room. Am I missing any more secret rooms that I should double check on? For those who have beaten it, is this the right percentage of map completion?

Yeah, that's how I missed a tile before in Burnt Paradise. I'll equip the Eye of Decay on Charlotte next item hunting session and do a quick run of all the portraits again, before I start farming in Nest of Evil.

You should go through the levels with the Eye regardless of extra rooms, since there are just some bits of wall that collapse to reveal items you might need for a quest, or even an MP Boost.

A great Castlevania, but I liked Dawn of Sorrow more. I enjoyed DoS' music more, and I liked the variety of weapons and how the souls would upgrade if you collected more.

They're both so good, though. My biggest complaint about PoR is the lack of variety in the stages. When I heard about the portraits taking you to different locations, I thought that it was a great opportunity to use stages that couldn't normally be put into one of the Metroidvania games that were located in a big castle. I was really let down when [spoiler:da5a671fbb]I found out that each of the first four portraits were basically repeated. And even with the ones that we got, the pyramid stages were the most unique (in terms of setting), and the 360 degrees idea with the circus stages was cool, too.[/spoiler:da5a671fbb]
It just felt like they could have done more with it.

Sadly though, it's only the first boss rush level. :( Though as a lesser known aspect, you both can be the same character. I always assumed somebody had to play Charlotte (everybody wants to be Jonathon).

Even though the entire theme of the game was about tag teams and partnership, I hope they bring it back in later games. With a full co-op mode to boot.

I liked the variety of the stages well enough. The around-the-world type areas are an awesome throwback to Bloodlines, and whatever doesn't seem all that new or inspired still works like a classic CV stage that we haven't had the chance to play in a free-roaming one (the forest comes to mind).

[spoiler:6d4387c6f8]It's basically a hint on how to get the "good" ending. But you'll need to go hunt down a spell to save him. Remember, he likes the Rolling Stones, so you may want to look for some.[/spoiler:6d4387c6f8]

    Spell.

In fact, check the spells you already have to see if their descriptions say anything that might sound helpful. I was able to heal him right away.

Ah ha, thank yas. I heard about the spell that you need for the sisters, is that only part of the good ending?

Thanks for the hint, I'll keep looking/check my own spells.

OK, this might be a stupid question but are the voice clips from the trailer actually in the game?

Yes, PoR does have voice over work, quite a bit of it. Mainly, when the main characters call out spells and such.

And if you hold down the left button when you make a selection on the main menu, you get all your voice overs in Japanese.

They are, but it's cool that they included it all in Japanese, too.

I wonder if the English voice over is available on the Japanese cart.

Apparently the JP version has the same thing.

I actually wanted to make sure that Stella's "I alone will take care of you" etc. (This Trailer) wasn't in the game - I guess I thought it was weird that they recorded it for the trailer but it wasn't in the game.

I managed to land one of those and it did tons of good.[/spoiler:f36572a02e]

    [spoiler:f36572a02e]Thanks for the tips.

    Which enemy drops Axe Bomber?[/spoiler:f36572a02e]
    Dual Crushes aren't item drops.

[spoiler:f36572a02e]Axe Bomber is in a secret room somewhere in the lower right quadrant of the castle. It's a room with brown rock walls and those Liejkie things (you know, the things with the guns that jump around and go "I SEE YOU"[/spoiler:f36572a02e]
