This is, unfortunately, true for a lot of comics these days. I liked the "trimming of the fat" that House of M brought, and it was interesting to see major characters trying to survive without their powers, but I stopped reading basically right after it was over. They started giving some of the depowered their powers back, and gave others new powers that they didn't have before either from further mutation or technology. It was silly. "This arc is going to have major consequences for major characters." "Oh, wait, nevermind." Yes I know House of M was still responsible for some major events in the Marvel Universe but come on. I think the only major character that has actually stayed depowered has been Scarlet Witch but you've got Loki running around convincing people that he's Scarlet Witch so who knows, we'll probably see her return too.
So, that Marvel Vs Capcom game... clinging to air sure is weird harharhar. Seriously though I want a firm date on this thing's release.
video game characters double jump all the time and I never hear anyone complain that they're jumping off of nothing
really, you're gonna bitch about that? if that's the best you can do, just stop talking.
No bitching here, though sometimes characters have abilities to kind of help assist in that. I can almost suspend disbelief in some cases, though literally grabbing nothing still looks silly.
But, MVC is silly to begin with; wasn't the catchphrase for the first one "let's get crazy?" So...
If anything, this shows how silly interacting with the edge of the screen really is.
Useless? Yes. Awesome anyway? Yes. Because it's Hiryu the one doing it and everything he does is awesome.
Heh, never said it was useless. Just silly. If I remember correctly, several of Jill's attacks are silly, too, but a bit more deliberately so. It works here.
Hell, "cyber space ninja is so badass, he can cling to walls that he makes with his mind" fits in perfectly, in my opinion.

Amen.
There's nothing wrong with criticizing something that looks that stupid. Nobody expects a perfect game.
But that's what was happening before, you just didn't actually see it. Let's suppose both fighters are at the far left of the fighting stage, if you jump on the right edge, doesn't that mean you're jumping off nothing?
Also, it's kinda hard to take seriously someone who posts a link leading to "lolz" and "lolcats".

Seriously, it would change too much in order to try to "fix" that (not worth it) and if it REALLY bothers you then playing it in 4:3 already makes it less obvious that he's clinging onto nothing.
I'm not debating that the widescreen is bad, I don't think many are, but it really does look weird when he's climbing up and down nothing. Yes, it was always like that, but there's a certain suspension of disbelief when you can't see the other side of the invisible wall. It's not a deal breaker or a serious issue, it's just sort of a "whoops, haha" moment that during actual heated matches where shit is flying all over the place you simply won't notice.
It does take some getting used to though.
Yeah, Elementor, I believe Psylocke is back in the Betsy Braddock body at the moment (which Kwannon was in when she died) so there's some speculation that might have both Betsy and Kwannon inhabiting the same body before long. Also the story of who revived Betsy's original body and why is so convoluted and stupid that I just won't go into it here.
I cant even believe the whole jumping off of nothing thing is an issue now. Come on people its been like that for years and years now. Some superheroes can even *gasp* FLY THROUGH THE AIR! They arnt grabbing anything either. Its a game and this is widescreen for a game made years ago. They werent prepared for it and also just plain ol dont give a shit. Like me. Ill be buying this. Hardcore. And then Ill watch as they climb around on nothing and like it!

All we're asking is for our Sakura v Sentinel fight be as realistic as possible. All this double jumping nonsense just reminds us that it's a game we're playing.
Fine then, if you think that Foundation 9 should get away with another shoddy port then that's your business. I have other, better, arcade conversions to be concerning myself with. Like Virtual on.

You do realize that if they were to allow you to go the full distance of widescreen... it would change up the game play a lot. This is why when SF2 HD Remix came out, the Character to Screen Ratio was gigantic, so that the player size, and screen size, would be the same as if it was on a 4:3.
If you start allowing people more running room, it can really change up the game.
What I'm hoping they will do is go the route of SF2 HD Remix, and give MvC2 a standard mode of play, and then a Remix version (for all you widescreen junkies and or nerf's/fixes)

what other shoddy ports have they gotten away with?
also, keeping the gameplay faithful to the original seems like the opposite of being a shoddy port, to me.

I was going to say something like this. Allowing more running room and keeping the characters the same size would actually imbalance the game even further, as Cable, Storm, and Sentinel become even better at everything they do, while characters that are already terrible get significantly hurt by the change.

Yes, I do realize that. I know why they did it and I know why they can't change it. I didn't say they needed to redo it or argued that it was a crappy port or anything (it isn't) I'm just saying the Strider wall climb looks weird. And it also looks kinda strange when you think that you can cross up an opponent when they're actually in the corner. It's confusing at first.
The wall jump doesn't look all that weird to me because characters double jump all the time (although where they jump from takes some getting used to just like the corner thing does) it's just the wall cling stuff that looks weird. And with most characters you'll only be on the wall for a second, but the fact that Strider can stick a sickle into the invisible wall and climb up and down it by jamming his climbing sickle higher up on the invisable wall and have it make that *schink* sound like a pick hammer into rock looks and sounds REALLY silly. That's all I'm getting at: it looks silly. I know why its like that and why it has to stay like that but its goofy looking. That's all. I get a chuckle out of it and then I go back to beating up Spiderman with a sword wielding future ninja from the late 80s.
Some of you seem to think I'm saying more than I really am.

and was an amazing game but dbz fans wouldn't play it because they couldn't do quarter circles and street fighter players wouldn't play it because it had dbz characters. Well maybe that's not fair, but either way the game tanked. ):
