Hello all. I just bought a used PS2 that's been sitting in a closet for a few years. As far as I know it works fine, but I wanted to give it a good cleaning if at all possible. Do you know if normal cd player lens cleaners (the disc with the little brush on it) would harm the lens? Any other ideas on how to clean it?
I looked around and it looks like a bunch of the products you can buy are CD/DVD so my guess is you are fine. From my own personal experience and what I've heard it won't be a lens issue you'll run into. My friend's first gen PS2 announced it was about to die by putting out the video/audio off-sync in movies. Three months later it was in the trash.
Last I checked GameFAQs had some really good guides on this believe it or not. I kept my PS2 going for 2 years after it should've been dead by tweaking and cleaning it every couple of months.
