The Concussion Rifle in Dark Forces (1) was awesome, especially on Imperial City and Executor levels. When there were like...40 Stormies sitting around waiting to be killified.

I often consider LPing Empire at war. It's just so goddamn cool.
Empire at war is great, but without Forces of corruption it's really bland. It's like they got all the movie crap out of the way with the first game, so for the expansion they just went crazy with content. I mean you've got Ysalamirs, witches of dathomir, and friggin' Thrawn. Also having a third faction really helps the pace of galactic conquest. I remember having to purposely not attack the empire because I could have marched up to coruscant with a fleet of 10 mon cal cruisers in the first ten minutes. The fact that Zann gets badarse mandalorian battleships is just the umm... Vweilu nuts on the... ryshcate?
Does anyone know if there's a interface mod for Kotor1 that lets you control it with a keyboard like you can in kotor2? Screw the story, that's why I've only replayed the first one once or twice and kotor2 a half dozen times

I f they are I might have to track down a copy. If not I might settle for dosbox emulating the X-Wing Collector's cdrom.

Seeing a product and trusting the name and seeing a product and buying it regardless because of that name is a good way to buy a bad game.
Bioware isnt exactly an mmo brand name.
It's almost like there's a company that made an MMO that was wildly successful despite them having no experience in making such a game.
But who?
Who could it be?
Your sarcasm is awesome.
Seriously, everybody starts somewhere. Bioware belongs in the MMO market (that's pretty much where WRPGs are going), and I think they can make a solid game. In addition, they're using an established engine, so they don't have to go through the nonsense of building their own.
Will it have bugs? Sure. Can it succeed even though Bioware's never developed an MMO? Absolutely. Will it be great? I have no idea, that's something we won't know until later stages of development.

That would depend on your OS. Vista doesn't like (and will refuse) to run 16-bit executables, which can be problematic for even installing a lot of older games.
I can't believe 6 pages in and no one's mention the Star Wars retrospective that GameTrailers did back in the fall. I can't link it now, cuz I'm at work but if someone else can that'll be awesome. It was a really really good retrospective of the Star Wars games, ranging all the back to the Atari Empire Strikes Back to Force Unleashed.
That said, the first game I ever took online was Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight through the Microsoft Gaming Zone! since DFII didn't have it's own lobby. Then, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. I lost many hours of my childhood to those two games.

I've played TIE Fighter with no problems on my XP machine; I imagine you could rig up a virtual machine for Vista if you had that.

I'm not asking about the 16bit versions Dos games. Those are easy to emulate. However many of the early DirectX games I have tried have had problems on newer machines.

A lot of the earlier DirectX games still use 16-bit installers. Rebellion, for example.
And even with the ability to emulate some of the older DOS games, which may require weird workarounds, the configuration utilities are often unusable.

I'm playing through Force Unleashed for the second time. Something about that game just clicks for me. I think it's because I feel like a total bad-ass the entire game. So many moments that brought a grin to my face, or made me want to exclaim "Hell yeah!"
MAJOR STORY SPOILERS
- Killing wookies as Vader
- Darth Maul w/ Duel of the Fates music playing (I drug the fight out so much just so I could hear the music more)
- Pulling a Star Destroyer into a planet
- "You were never going to overthrow the Emperor!" "Not with you."
- The fact that you create the MUTHAFUCKIN' REBEL ALLIANCE

I have mixed feelings about Force Unleashed. I included it with my top picks because I definitely think its worth playing once. The story is phenomenal. Also, you're right, there are moments where they really make you feel like a badass.
But there are other moments that are just infuriatingly difficult. I'm specifically talking about the part where you fight like 4 rancors at once, the part where you have to shut down all 6 or 7 pylons, and the part where you're in a big canyon and there are lots of enemy snipers plus a ton of other shit.
On top of those parts, I also encountered several places where my character got stuck and I had to reload the game to get un-stuck. Also, on my 360 I had some pretty severe frame-rate issues in certain places. The very first level of the game, where you're playing as Vader and wrecking the Wookie village gave me some bad frame loss whenever a hut crumbled.

As long as the story segments are the same, I guess I'm obligated to be the test runner for the Wii version of TFU.
Without a doubt, and while they are taking an inordinately long amount of time to fix some of those bugs, I'd rather give those guys the benefit of the doubt here and play it when they think it's ready.
Its May 1! Star War month has officially begun. Bust out your games and lets get our Star Wars on!
I'm starting with KotOR2, which I actually have an active game going. I started playing a couple weeks ago which is what originally gave me the idea to make this thread.

HK-47 was insane in KOTOR 2. In 1 he was fine, but jesus was he awesome in II.
Of course everyone was awesome in 2.
Especially Kreia
And Atton in that one dialogue. Yeah you know the one.

And yes, the GameTrailers Star Wars Retrospective was absolutely FANTASTIC. Wonderful memories. This should go in the OP.

The videos will embed, Tycho.
Embed them, you fool!
Do not fail me again!
This is why we have the GOG.com wishlist.
I want Volition and the Ace Combat team to make a new freespace so we can get a star wars mod.

Just grabbed KOTOR2, haven't played it yet, so that should be fun.

Well, looks like I forgot KOTOR.
Hmm. take my original list, seed KOTOR1 before DF2, and put KOTOR 2 above Trilogy arcade. Problem solved.

At this point, you should just wait for the public release.
To dowload the patch? Or before I start playing at all?
"Go up, thou bald head." -2 Kings 2:23
They're synonymous.
It's pretty much feature complete, just a bit buggy.
That said, the leaked beta isn't anything near as bad as you'd get if you played vanilla patched.
I feel wrong getting it before it's "ready".

Shit is rock hard, I've died so many times, but I'll persevere, at least until the jumping parts.
Coruscant will make you cry like a little bitch.
