There was a sick mod for Battlefield 1942 that got released unfortunately about a month before Battlefront called Galactic Empire or something- it was fucking awesome and better than Battlefront to me. When a server filled up you got some intense fucking fights going.
I played the hell out of that mod in eighth grade. And, yes, it was way better than battlefront.

The only thing that was lame was when people spawn killed you as a probe droid. Those things were impossible to kill.

I don't understand why anyone thought making BF3 was a bad idea.

Seriously, 1 and 2 were the best selling star wars games ever.
It's sad that the only next-gen star wars game we've gotten so far is Force Unleash.

Re-installed XWA. Bummed to find that it wouldn't respond to my oxbox controller hooked up via usb. Think I'll hit Frys and grab a cheap stick.

Was checking out xwaupgrade.com. Am I missing something or am I really supposed to download and install each individual crafts upgrade?

Like the other guy said, yes you do and it's pretty irritating. The XWA upgrade is kind of a mixed bag, too. A lot of the exterior models look really good but come with terrible cockpits.

XvT is my favourite of the X-Wing series...I loved how it had a ton of one-off missions you could play in any order.

I'm pretty sure BF3 fell by the wayside cuz the company who was making it (Free Radical?) went under due to the recession. Or something like that, I'm fuzzy on the details.

Does KOTOR 1 have stability issues? It keeps crashing to windows on both my XP 32bit and Win7 64bit machines.
Game is unmodified 1.03 installed from the Best of PC DVD. Turning down Graphics options did not help.
    Any ideas?
Edit: Not hardware accelerated sound or AnyDVD either.
Edit2: Not solved by restricting KOTOR to 1 CPU core.
Edit3: Upgrading to latest Nvidia Drivers and setting Texture Clamp to OpenGL (from here) did not help either. Damn this to hell.

I have beaten all three of the Super Star Wars games for the SNES.

It is my greatest accomplishment in videogames, next to beating Battletoads on the Genesis.

That said, I started playing KOTOR again on Friday. I'm up to when you leave Dantooine and my planet of choice to start was Tatooine, why? Well ya know, HK-47. But my question more relates to the Swoop races. I keep seeing dialogue about upgrading your swoop and buying parts for it.

Was this scrapped but they left the text in?

I completely don't remember this the first two times I played through that game, when it came out in 2003, but I'm seeing text for it and I don't see any way to do this or any parts to buy.

I didn't see an answer to this, so I'm answering it. Yeah, you nailed it. There's a bunch of dialogue in there about "upgrading your swoop" but there's absolutely no way to do it. It got left in somehow.

As an aside, Battletoads was superb but incredibly hard. That speeder bike jumping section was infernal.

I'm not sure what the hell happened with Lucasarts compared to their heyday. This was a company that pretty much only turned out pure, solid AAA titles. Personally, I blame the release of the Phantom Menace and the beginning of Lucasarts hocking the Star Wars license like a 5$ whore to pretty much everyone.

I remember being all hyped for Force Commander. I was still riding on the Starcraft high, so it was like "omg, I love Star Wars, and I love RTSes! This is gonna own!" Then it kept getting delayed...and changed...and then it sucked.

How was Galactic Battlegrounds, anyways? It looked like Age of Empires re-skin, so I never tried it.

I did however buy Empire at War and I loved it. It's a bit of a dumbed down version of Civilization, but for Star Wars. It's a really fun game. Too bad the fucking expansion doesn't work under Vista64 and Lucas Arts has no plans of fixing this. Assholes.

I actually really enjoyed Galactic Battlegrounds. I played it quite a bit when I was living in the dorms in college, and playing a game with people you know always makes it better. Even mediocre games are fun in a LAN party environment, which is what the dorms were.

Maybe that's why so many Bothans died in the recovery of the second Death Star plans? The Rebels put their mission on auto-complete and they lost like 3 platoons of Bothans.

Simulating battles is not how you do an RTS!

    Also.

    Star Wars: Rebellion

One of the worst and most confusing pieces of shit I ever played. It was their earliest attempt at a Civ/RTS type game and it was fuck awful.

Until I got a hold of a ship editor and made X-Wings more powerful than any ship in the game and proceeded to wreak havok upon the galaxy.

Star Wars: Rebellion is one of the best real-time strategy games I have ever played. Managing the entire Galactic Empire and sending out gigantic death fleets to destroy the Rebels, capture Mon Mothma and kill all the minor characters, and bombard to dust anyone who did not join my cause was almost as awesome as sending in strike fleets with Darth Vader and his special ops buddies to infiltrate enemy planets, destroy enemy forces, and capture enemy characters. Meanwhile my scientists are designing some sweet TIE Defenders or war droids to help me kick more butt. Even the real time fleet battles were fun.

Yeah, but after the 40th fight that is exactly the same I got pretty bored and just wanted to conquer. I had enough industrial muscle to keep up with attrition. If there was some depth to the actual battles other than just moving people around and bringing in reinforcements then I might have been tempted to keep doing it. Otherwise it is literally the same thing over and over and over and over....
