Before I try and actually do this:

is it difficult to get x-wing running on XP? I've got the collector's CD sitting around somewhere and a decent joystick to boot.

CoH is more about small skirmishes. I want a Star Wars Medieval II: Total War, because THAT could capture the scale of the Clone Wars. Huge batallions of droids + air support and tanks and stuff? Yeaaaaah. A Star Wars version of CoH would work better for Rebels v Empire.

Are you trying to kill my free time compeltely?

I beat KOTOR the other day as light side, and I have to say the game is more challenging and more informative as light side. You find out more about characters and their history when doing the light side stuff.

That said, I started over as dark side and I'm already at max dark side slider before leaving my first planet (Tatooine). Some parts of the game are just easier as dark side, though some are more difficult (Tusken base, for example). But I think the biggest difference is that dark side is just so much more profitable. You persuade/steal so much more than you do as Light Side.

Any game with Kyle Katarn, I grew up on those shooters and they were amazing.

    Starfighter on PS2 was good.

My all time favourite though, would have to be X-Wing Alliance, just the scope of the game, the amount of different ships included, as well as the customizable missions!

    Godamn, I loved that game.

I did a light then a dark play through back to back a few months ago. Yoda's quote about the dark side, "Quicker, easier, more seductive," came to mind. I had so many credits. I bought everything I wanted and still had more credits when I finished my dark play though than I ever had playing light. Plus I did the "don't level up till your a Jedi" trick on my dark side play though.

Meh. Buncha games worse than TIE Fighter, then a horrid one that got them killed. Rogue Squadron was good when it was atomspheric combat but ocne you go into space, I want some hardcore space combat, not something where I fire lasers out of four fire hoses on the wings of my X-Wing.

The problem with the Rogue Squadron games wasn't even a lack of hardcore flight mechanics.

Everything about them feels amazingly bland and unexciting. There's no oomph to anything at all. Every single mission feels generic and like it's just another few minutes of going through the motions. Most arcade flight sims seem to suffer from this, though.

They all essentially end up being turning matches to be honest. The games then end up depending on either the license or general style to see them through.

The problem is, I'm not sure how much depth you can give an arcade flight sim. Making it accessible enough more often than not results in taking away the "sim" aspects wholesale, and the depth along with them.

Hovercraft handle differently on different terrain.
Top speed depends on the surface. You'll move the fastest over ice, slowest over grass, while water is somewhere in between. With power commonly available in the 25- to 60-horse range, expect to hit 35 to 50 mph over water.

    IS IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE?

You can learn basic operations in less than half a day but like windsurfing or mountain skiing you get better at it with practice. Of course there is lots of fancy footwork to learn before you become a world champion.

We offer hovercraft operator training programs. Flying over water is quite different from ice or snow or grass. Wind is an important factor because you are actually flying. Maneuverability varies over different surfaces and learning to judge terrain before you reach it requires practice.

Your Atlantic Hovercraft Dealer can teach you how to get the most out of this exciting product.

They need to give the Rogue Squadron license to Namco's Ace Combat team. Mix their arcade flight style with some x-wings and I think you'd have a winner. And it makes sense too since Lucasarts doesn't want to work anymore.

Yeah, World Devastators and V-Wings were cool to me since I'm an EU nerd, but it probably was pretty random for other people. And I fully agree that Project Aces could make an awesome Star Wars arcade flight sim. Actually, it's been a while since I played it, but Jedi Starfighter was pretty reminiscent of Ace Combat. Lot's of chatter going on, and some pretty awesome battles.

They tend to be of the same star warsey epic scale as the movies since they are both visual mediums.

Almost finished the family missions. Soon, off to join the Rebellion. This is my 3rd attempt to play through, I plan to actually finish it this time.

I installed KotR2, right? Well, there were some mods I liked, primarily ones for new heads. So, I installed a Twi'lek Exile, and Blue Twi'lek heads from Filefront. When I installed the Twi'lek Exile into the KotR2 folder, the game wouldn't start, so, through an array of misclicks, I ended up screwing up the back-up files I made, so I went to the Control Panel, and ignorantly tried to "change" the game, and now I can't reinstall it at all.

I am so deliriously sad over this. Has anyone ever done this before? :| WHAT DO I DO?

Yay for the Win 95 version of the X-Wing trilogy. So little fuss to get it working. Using my Xbox controller for a joystick and despire the problem with precision aiming (I guess A-Wings will be a bitch) everything is peachy-dandy fine.

Only question is about the soundtrack. Does anyone know if the original iMUSE midi music is in the game somewhere? I know it sounds lol...but iMUSE was amazing and I want to experience it again.

Update: Upon reloading my save, she showed up in the party selection screen again. If you select her, she shows up alive and well. If you DON'T select her, then return to the hawk, she shows up alive and well. In either case, she is wearing everything she had been wearing right before you kill her, including the con-boosting item you had to remove to do it. Given that you can loot her corpse for all her items, I think I found an item-duping bug.

I thought TFU was a great game unfortunately marred by points in the game where you have to just think to yourself "WHO THE HELL THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE FUN!?!?" There is just some points where you can see that someone thought the game was too easy so they put an onslaught of big troopers surrounding you, with AT-STs in the area, and 5 snipers up really high that constantly shoot at you.

Sure, the scroll wheel is sweet, but the iPod is better than the Walkman in every way, so you might as well just dump the Walkman and use the scroll wheel on the iPod where it was intended to be used in the first place.

The story is the best part. The gameplay is fun for a while. But then they start making enemies immune or highly resistant to everything you can do. Sure, they had to come up with ways to make the game challenging, but 99% of the anti-jedi tech that they use in this game is not canon and does not appear anywhere else. Its just frustrating.

I've replayed KOTOR II a couple times, plus I've read the story hour. The last time I played KOTOR was when it came out... 2002 I guess? So it's been a while, and it would just be fun to start from the beginning. But I don't like starting as the bullshit non-jedi classes, because they're a stupid trap and you have to spend about 4 hours of gameplay as level 2 if you don't want to fall into that trap. Not fun.

Besides, KOTOR II is only as great as its unfinished story. The ideas are awesome, but there was so much left out of play that I can't even bring myself to play the climax of the story again it is so unsatisfying.
