So I'm trying to become a teacher and I've been doing some observing and teaching some pre-prepared lessons to some fourth graders.
I gotta say guys, I fucking love doing this. The kids really get into it, they're all raising their hands to ask me shit, running up to me to tell me things, and just generally getting really excited when I walk into the room. They all want to talk to me.
Today I had to tell them that the next lesson would be my last, which was met with a loud "Awwwwww."
Also today they were signing each other's shirts, and as I was packing up to leave I was ambushed by pretty much the entire class wanting me to sign their stuff before I left.
These kids love me and it's a fucking wonderful feeling, dudes. I haven't been this happy about anything in ages.
I want to be a teacher that kids look forward to seeing.
When kids are looking at their schedules for their upcoming year, and asking older students about the teachers, and sometimes they'll be like "oh, you got Mr. X, you'll like him, he's great", and I wanna be
that guy.
Let's talk about eduction, folks. I know there are some teachers and some of my fellow wannabes on this here forum.

I really enjoyed the teaching part but edcation politics is such buuuuuulllllshhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, which kinda killed it for me. And it's not something you can do half-heartedly.
I'm pleased for you that you have the enthusiasm.
Glad you enjoy what you do, TDOT.
Otherwise I hate you all.
What spring does with the cherry trees.
Do they call it Language arts or communications or something else where you are TDOT? It's a regular debate
I'm aiming to teach history, anyway.
i hope im one of those teachers too
e: holy shit i am also teaching history with a side of journalism depending on what school i end up at
avoid the teenagers, TDOT.
man, i would totally love to do that. i dont suppose the art supply store has a chain in vancouver, eh?
I checked. They're all in Manitoba/Sask/Alberta.
That seems like a debatable decision. Just because newspapers are redundant doesn't mean that journalism is.
Though I guess if we keep going down the Huffington Post Rd., eventually we'll be able to outsource all our journalistic needs to retards who'll write for free
ive spoken to people in the field, from my professors to local journalists, and there just aren't jobs right now, at all. i used to write up freelance prep sports stories for my local paper, and even that isn't an option anymore.
besides, it was a 50-50 decision all along between education and journalism, and i can always get back into writing in the future.
Explain.
The administration is the devil
parents don't give a shit about there kids anymore, and expect you to raise them
avoid teens like the plague
that one "Thank you mister TDOT" or "I really learned a lot" goes a long way
fuck standardized testing
if you find a parent that wants to get involved, let them
if you do not absolutely love what you do, get out before it's too late
It makes my day a million times better when a kid just comes up and hugs me for no reason.

though I'm not sure if she's actually serious or just poking me because I don't get along with babies
but I have to give teachers of all ages and subjects a huge amount of props because it isn't easy and they're awesome for doing it!
he was the coolest guy I have ever had the fortune to know, he was seriously rad.
i dont know yet what ages ill be teaching, but theres a pretty good chance ill split my time among everything k-12
ive never done any kind of teaching, but with a few exceptions i generally like kids so im looking forward to it! if it turns out well, i might just become a real teacher! huzzah!
you better like small asian fingers in your ass
ahahahahaha oh man that's the exact opposite of the middle schoolers here
they learn jack shit and act like jackasses
Maybe I should rethink that. Middle school is pubertytown.

never ever teach there
this is as serious as I can possibly get
I intend on teaching English. I'm getting my english degree but in Florida you don't have to go to school for teaching specifically. They always have a shortage of teachers down here so it's a lot easier to get in.
obviously if my law career hopes fall through I will move down to Florida and try my hand at teaching (getting my BA in English next year).
Yeah, get a degree and pass some licensing tests and that's it.

One of my younger students finally stood up to a bully, and kicked his ass when the bully tried to beat him up in retaliation. Good feelings all around.
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
