    So I just checked the hub to see if the bay12games server was still up, and there's someone with a heavily-outdated (about a week from being a year old) version of our code using it for a thunderdome server. I'm not sure what to make of this.

    So I worked out the major hurdle to making a full-on Zombie mode (specifically, the fact that indicators weren't vanishing when people got dezombied), should I bother going through the effort of making a new gamemode, or just leave the zombies as something that occasionally crop up during a regular round?

    I've been a busy boy. Here's the changelog differences between JDark's server and my dropbox.

    Modified Sunday 9th May, 2010
    • Commented out some redundant code.
    • Rejuvs now have a small chance of curing zombification.
    • Zombie/infection indicators are now properly removed from cured individuals.
    • Started groundwork for zombie gamemode.
    • Made it possible to decuff yourself if there's a lit welder laying around.
    • Fixed the fixes for exploded/hulked firedoors/airlocks/doors in general not passing atmosphere through their tiles.
    • Added the ability for admins to disable the automatic reboots at round-end.

    Modified Saturday 8th May, 2010
    • Moved zombie self-termination to the Suicide verb.
    • Minor change to how voting works.
    • Fixed ghost verb to be given to everyone, not just humans.
    • Monkeys can now use the succumb verb.


    :edit: also, we need mans on the server or something, I'm not poking the code around for my own amusement.

    Okay, it'd obviously hurt a bit, but no more so than just getting welded in the face.

    Seems to be a case of (essentially) nobody's on at all. We topped out at 4 players last night.

    How do admins and stuff work on SS13?

    Does the server host make a list of byond usernames or something so people are recognized?

    in the config folder, there should be an Admins.txt. If you're looking at our code, I should already be in there with Host-level access. That shows you the formatting for adding people. The possible ranks, from least powerful to most powerful, are "Moderator" "Super Moderator" "Administrator" "Primary Administrator" "Super Administrator" "Host". The ranks ARE case sensitive, so the capitalization is important.

    So, we're most likely still deep in our cyclical decline, but i figured I'd crosspost this from the bay 12 games forum anyway.
    This is Supernorn from the Something Awful forums, and main spriter for the Goonstation build of Space Station 13.

    Nannek has released a new public build for everyone, which should include pretty much everything up until our Dev build went live in March 2010. Use the code as you see fit!

    I've also taken the liberty of including all the icons i've created, including the mob directional sprites. There's probably a fair chunk missing as i took some things out that i hadn't created. But you're still getting a huge amount of icons out of the goodwill of my heart. The link is here, size is about 40MB: http://blackmage.org/supernorn/Public.rar
    tl;dr Goons released a public copy of their shit up to March 2010. Haven't looked at the code yet, but I've got it downloaded at any rate.

    Just took my first shot at copying old map into new code, and it crashed after i told it where all the bits got moved to in the code.

    It didn't remember me telling it where all the bits got moved to.

    So, barring a goon coder/mapper swooping in to explain exactly why map importing isn't working and how to fix it, I'm probably going to have to manually reconstruct the map. Also, the code doesn't include all of their fancy sprites, so we'll have to poke bits around so it uses the old sprites in the spots where it's trying to use a sprite that wasn't included.
    :fakeedit: though looking closer, there ARE sprites for at least some of the things that are acting like they're spriteless, this requires further investigation
    :realedit: Aha, got the supposedly missing icons to appear.
