    hittin' kids and stuff

Man, when I was little I used to get the wooden spoon to the back of my hand if I misbehaved. ...I barely ever misbehaved because of that.

I believe in light spankings and firm discipline, but anything more is too much.

Peter: That story reminds me of my cousin. They never discipline her at all, and she gets out of control. What's even worse is that when she gets put in time out, she starts to crym and my aunt goes back to her and is like "oooh, i'm so sorry! awwwww *hug*" and takes her out of time out.

I fucking hate that. When I got "time out" I wasn't allowed to leave my room all day. Which was torture especially in summer.

No problem. When will you be starting classes here? Next fall?

    Hopefully, yeah.

One of my punishments was to have to "sit on the stairs"...there were 3 steps, a landing, and a 90 degree turn and the steps would continue to the 2nd floor. I'd have to sit on the landing. I don't know why it was such an atrocious punishment for me, but it was. My only consolation would be when my dog would "sense" my sadness and come up to me. She was the best dog.

It was like, the ultimate rejection and the worst feeling in the world when she decided it would be a better idea to sit 15 feet away from me in the livingroom and wag her tail at me in reply to my calling her name.

It was like, "oh god my DOG doesn't even like meeeeeeeee"

My dad had a special spanking belt. It was too big and wide to actually wear on any pants, it's sole purpose was to spank missbehaving kids.

Not only was that a scary belt, he always made me go get it for him when I was gonna get spanked.

So your dad just walked round town giving random kids a beating? :P
He's like santa's little helper who disciplines the kids who haven't been nice!

I still laugh at the memory of my dad driving on holiday, and reaching back behind himself to hit me in the back seat. He kept missing and hitting my brothers because he didnt want to take his eyes off the road. (i was a little shit to be fair) My mum still tells that story.

    Stupid colleges
    Stupid art schools
STUPID $30 BILLION STUDENT AID CUTS FROM THE GOVERNMENT

Oh yeah, and goddamned stupid FAFSA for forcing you to submit your PARENT'S tax information until you're 24. This is, of course, regardless of the fact whether said parents giving you a dime or not.

Also super-tastic that BOTH of my parents remarried, and so instead of two incomes I'm listing, I'm listing FOUR. And my mom's husband apparently makes a good amount of money. My federal aid = zero dollars.

So, like, somebody could be living on their own, be estranged from their parents who are well off, and be 22 and barely making it through college with a full-time job and the goddamn FAFSA will screw it up. MAN I hate that.

SCAD is actually one of the least expensive art schools I've found that actually has a good reputation. It's sure as hell a LOT cheaper than ANY "reputable" art schools in Northeast. Parsons/Pratt/almost every other NY college/UMass/RISD/etc=your wallet is fucked.

I recommend Hebrew, if it's offered. Clearly not the most useful language to know, but you'll probably have fun if you like languages.

At first glance I read that as "Christmas and Japanese class." Shit, that would be the greatest class ever. You get to learn all about the wide world of tinsel, milk and cookie consumption, and how to tear through gift wrapping in the most effective/violent manner possible.

I've only taken one semester of conversational Mandarin, I wanna study it more in deph. There is an institute where I can go, but I have to save up $900.00!

I should have made a second major in languages. That's the only thing I regret not doing in college.

Ack! Time so short...must finish SS. I'm still not even sure what the hell it is that I've been drawing. I'm really worried that what I'm drawing is just an interpretation of what the person would want, instead of what the person would actually want. I don't know if that made any sense...

The point is, this really shouldn't be nearly as difficult as it seems. I just don't want to disappoint the person I got.

Yesterday I was at the optometrist and we had an interesting conversation where she told me that screen guards/glare guards for CRT monitors do nothing to lessen eye strain or vision damage.

What are the best kind of artist quality gray markers for notebook sketching? I've always wanted to try using grayscale markers for rendering. I imagine most people use copics, do they sell like a light-to dark value range pack or something?
