So I just realized there's one gaping hole in my Fable 3 knowledge: The magic system. Have they changed it up any?
- Spells are stored in different gauntlets, so I guess that the Hero isn't a natural spellcaster this time around. Depending on what kind of gauntlets you wear you can mix the different magics and get a combined spell.
- Timestop has been removed from the active spell list and turned into a potion instea.
I hope we see a renaissance of heroes now that they're taking royal power and discovered a new continent. It's tough to go from a glorified mercenary company to extinction. Maybe that was Theresa's plan all along? 3 is basically the inverse of the rebellion against heroes.

Well apparently you're rebelling against your own brother so, I imagine he has every bit the heroic powers you do.
Yeah, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed that you didn't really have a heroic/villanous counterpart that tried to upstage you in some quests, such as Whisper did in Fable. I wouldn't be too surprised if you are pitted against another countrys Heroes though, since Molyneux seems to hint towards an invasion of your kingdom once you've defeated your brother.
I kind of like the theme of fading magic in Fable. I don't know why but I think it helps make heroics special or something.
I tend to hate that in fantasy settings. It's far too easy to just formulate a world that's slowly turning into the one we already inhabit. It's lazy, is what it is.

Perhaps if it were just a single game, but in a multiple iteration series I think it's not so simple as you're making it out to be. It's just personal taste. For me, I like that each successive descendant of Archon has had to fight harder and differently to live up to their heritage as the world becomes a little less magical.
Hey so.... I am playing Fable 2 right now, and I can't seem to stop focusing on someone. If that makes sense.
Basically I hit LT to focus on someone, but hitting it again isn't getting me out of the mode. I can't pull out my gun because 'Y' also functions as the button you hit to check out an NPC's stats.
Basically I am looking for a way to get out of this which doesn't involve me going to another zone or murdering someone.
Well the way you typed that seemed like you were saying that Lost Chapters was higher pitched
But now I have to find videos of highpitched Jack now. I only ever played the Lost Chapters version.
Still though, it's like Microsoft. Why. Even all the free themes to promote the digital release said "The Lost Chapter" on them! And then you go to download the game and it's like "nope, i'm vanilla version lol"

Hey guys, I just bought an used Xbox and got me Fable II too.
I just started playing, got the dog, did that first cave for the gipsy and killed the first bandit camp.
I'm gonna buy the 2 DLC (there are 2, right?) and I really like the game so far.
I'm reading through the thread, but if anyone wants to help me and my character, I'll be around weekday early nights... Oh and I'd appreciate any hints in this thread too.
I guess my only hint is that you shouldn't worry too much about how you spend your XP. There isn't any way to respec except for "selling" your previous investments for a much lower price, but it is really easy to get XP. With my current character I haven't done a ton of combat, instead focusing on makin' $$$, and I am just able to buy EXP potions. Eventually you could max out everything, if I am not mistaken.
Oh and the co-op kind of sucks. Unless they fixed it, but I doubt they did.
I can't do it until Wednesday!! PLEASE SAVE ME SOME MONEYS!!!!
BTW, the one thing I hated with the power of a billion galaxies in Fable 1 PC was the whole "You age when you use XP" thing that no one told me until my character was really damn old
can I use XP whenever I want or will I age in F2 too?
Nope there's no aging in Fable 2 beyond a few specific times as a result of quests. You can even refund your ability points for general xp if you don't like the result you get.

You only age during specific story events.
If you want teh monies, here's a neat trick, if I remember it correctly. Basically you buy property, jack up the rent to max, save and quit, then set your Xbox clock ahead to like 2025, load the game, collect 15 years of rent, save and quit, set clock back, spend new money on more properties, and repeat. You'll end up with max Corruption, but you can just set all the properties back to normal rent and set a few to no rent and you'll get back to Pure pretty quickly. Once you own a good number of properties, you won't have to worry about money again. The only weird thing is I think you have to be offline when you change your date or otherwise it won't let you.

You can also hoard your EXP potions until...
The arena. The crowd excitement multiplier thing also applies to the EXP you get from drinking a potion. So if the multiplier's at 5 (the highest it can go) and you drink a potion that would normally give you 2,500 points, it'll now give you 12,500.
Which makes levelling go a little faster. :P

There's also a glitch you can exploit. Immediately go back to the menu after using a potion, and if you go back to your inventory it'll still be there. Use it again and pause again and if your timing is right, you can use it a third time. The timing takes a bit to get down, but once you do you can easily get 2 or 3 uses out of potions.
Frankly, the Fable games are so damn easy that you really have no reason to cheese the game.
I thought cheesing Fable games was the point
The problem, in my eyes, is that there's nothing to gain from cheesing the game since pretty much anything dies from a harsh glance from your character. Maybe I'm just weird but I'd find the game far more fun if there was something to aim for when I cheese, such as a really powerful boss or a badass dungeon. Something that the Fable games sadly lack. Hell, Fable 2 was pretty much several steps back when it came to fun boss encounters.

Honestly, I agree that the game was easy, but it wasn't so much about cheesing the game as chessing it while doing cool stuff.
That's why I honestly didn't like the changes made in Fable 2. Magic was made a bore to use and melee/ranged attacks...while effective...were pretty bland.

Nothing can really upstage fighting a giant Scorpion / Dragon

haha that would have been epic
If your mother wasn't making funny noises through the whole fight
It's still stupid how the Games on Demand version of Fable 1 is not the Lost Chapters version
that's like, what

uh, Jack sounds like a girl in that version :?
Lost Chapters has the last part of the game though.
And a Dragon.

No no no
Jack sound likes a girl in the orginal
They lower his voice dramaticaly in lost chapters
@Foolish Chaos: A well known glitch, happens to me all the time

Crap, yeah I guess it did sound like that :x
Anyone need some capital funding for a new character?

Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst
I haven't started up my copy of Fable 2 in ages. I wonder how much money is sitting in my treasury.
Have they said anything about Fable 3 reading your Fable 2 save at all? It would be kind of neat if it would give you some rewards.
Offline earning is capped at 2 weeks. So, depends on how much properties you owned.
Yeah, that was totally unexpected and much appreciated. I'm going on a spending spree when I jump back on tomorrow.
Thanks, Fyre!
