For those of you finishing off the Broken Steel content at around level 25 or so:
Were you playing a new character, or continuing from a save just before the original ending, and how much exploration did you do during the broken steel content?
Good god the feral ghouls in the Presidential subway track thing...
It's lucky I had the stealth suit and about 15 nuka grenades and bottlecap mines or else i'd never have made it. I love that they've added new enemies that can totally kick your ass if you use conventional methods. The android's plasma rifle does nothing against the Reavers.
You mean Taft Tunnels during that bit? I did that a few days ago with IIS and Feral Ghoul Rampage and holy shit it was like goddamn Left 4 Dead with them streaming out of every opening and orifice. Makes me wonder how many you could have in a single area that was relatively devoid of detail and clutter.

I was continuing a save at just before the assault on the Jefferson Memorial. The only content I did from 20-25 was Broken Steel stuff, since I was a moron and did The Pitt and Operation Anchorage when the cap was still 20. I did go out of my way to kill all the enemies/open all the locked things for loot, etc.

OK, some good news. Was mildly concerned about running out of quest content on a fresh character before running out of levels.

Oh shit, he's even wearing the Vault 77 suit and looks like Bloody Mess to boot. That's too badass.
I couldn't tell you why but there was something deeply disturbing about Vault Boy even before that comic. I just imagine him traipsing through the wasteland seeing all this unimaginable brutality and never losing that happy-go-lucky smile on his face.
I've actually got the bobblehead sitting on my desk right now...
I think it's... looking at me.

Wow. even on the 360, Very Hard Mode is Very Hard. But level 8 before I finish moira's quests, so that's something.

I am thinking of doing an unarmed character...I recently did a perfect character. But hes tired and boring.
I just want a dude who runs around in power armor with a power fist and punches things in the face.
My last guy started as a melee/big guns, and when he had maxed everything...like I said, was lame.
This time I might do Unarmed/big guns (the mini gun was just to fun)/small guns. With really low int. I know in the end he might end up the same, but...meh.
I haven't yet finished the game; nor have I downloaded Broken Steel. I've heard that it changes the ending, so I've been reluctant to download it before I finish the regular game. But I also want that increased level cap. Will I miss anything from the original ending by downloading Broken Steel, or does it just allow me to play beyond the original conclusion?
It doesn't actually change the ending or anything, it more or less does a "well, that's HOW it could have happened, but this is what REALLY did" thing at the end before startin' the new stuff.
A warning for those who haven't done the Purifier activation:
Do NOT put the modified FEV in, unless you like making the game less fun. It has no positive effects (doesn't reduce the mutant/ghoul population at all), and it makes all the water give you a STR/INT debuff and kill you if you drink enough of it.
Just finished The Pit. Excellent. Really enjoyed it. Gave p on the ingots at around 70-odd. Auto axe is civilization!
Also, the main quest kinda twisted in the middle in a way I liked. not so black and white as I imagined.
The atmosphere of the city though was superb. the smoke stacks and the blade runner style flames all over the place. brilliant.
just grabbed broken steel, though im only about halfway through the main quests so that wont unlock for me for an hour or two. the level 30 perks look incredible.
We needed more of that in Fallout 3. The Enclave really didn't seem "military" enough, other than Colonel Autumn's whole trench-coat wearing Southern General thing he had going on. I mean, the Enclave is basically Sparta, right? Where pretty much everybody is in the military and you're born and die in it?
We should have locked the writers in a room, made em watch full metal jacket a few dozen times, and then had them rewrite the Enclave sections.
Scaled-down Mass Production Liberty Prime would indeed be awesome. Though you can't exactly call it Prime anymore.
Liberty Odd Number.
Summer break is here and I'm going to squeeze in another play of Fallout 3 with a character with strong Repair instead of Science so I can make crazy weapons. I picked up the collectors edition guide and man I can't wait to do all the upgrading missions. Then again, I still have my old save.
Also, I just learned what is in the expansion. Now I HAVE to get back into Fallout!
For the attack with Liberty Prime and the Brotherhood on the Enclave:
First time I heard this music was when watching Trinity: The Atomic Bomb movie. It was played when a group of batshit crazy Chinese soldiers rode their horses towards a mushroom cloud. The title is apocalypse, I got shivers when I saw it.
Just fought like 5 super mutant overlords in Georgetown... goddamn. Even with 85 DR and 600 health a bunch of tri lasers and gatling lasers fucks you up real quick. That was quite the showdown, bottle cap mines and exploding cars and incinerator fire everywhere.
In game soundtrack, I tried that GNR mod that adds more songs, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly? I hear a new song occasionally, but usually its just the same old songs.

Needs more rainbow-y serephim-winged deer-antlered otter-dolphin-fish hybrids of royal lineage.

He's sizing you up. Show no weakness, for he can feel it.
I'M GONNA SAW MY EYESES OFF GOD NO
I will kill your mother for that mod.
As a nostalga question, who was everyone's favorite Fallout 1 and 2 NPC?
Mine was Cassidy. Old guy, badass, shotgun, snappy one liners, listened to orders to not burst fire you to death.
Seymour the Plant and Gorice were two of my favorites.
Sulik was fun, and good backup once I switched him entirely to melee weapons.

The mutants won btw

Enclave or not, I've never killed him in any Fallout 2 run I've ever done. Even when I purge Navarro, I leave him alive.

You think deathclaws are bad?
Thing took out 2 floaters, a deathclaw young and a few robots by itself.

Because the score of the game is actually pretty good, but I have to customize the soundtrack because that's just something I have to do, you know?
I just prefer to enter combat with a little style on my side, you know what I mean

Hell, that clip even LOOKS like Fallout.
COMMUNISM IS A LIE.
GNR is pretty good once you kill 3-dawg, though.
