She's one of the ghouls in the abandoned metro tunnels near Tenpenny Tower.

One of the forumers did a mod where you can sleep with her - and a bunch of other female NPCs, most of whom aren't ghouls, so I wasn't as interested.

I'd also like some input on the DLCs from someone other than BlackDove. I just got the game and it's awesome so far. I love how it manages to give you a big open world to explore, but it's easy to navigate and easy to get back to the main quests. It just clicks for me more than the Elder Scrolls stuff.

Broken Steel is the best and should be bought by anyone who hated the ending. (Everyone)

I'm playing Operation Anchorage right now. I had put off buying it because of all the negative comments made about it, but then decided I should play it for myself and live with the choice. I really like my choice. It's a great change of scenery, and the first mission had a cool Metal Gear feeling to it. (Not saying it's like MGS, just it felt similar in some way) The second mission feels like MoH to me for some reason. Plus the Invisible Ninja suit and Gauss rifle are freaking awesome.
Yeah, I liked it, too. Not surprised at all the negative commentary -- Bethesda could ship out free bars of gold and someone would complain that it's not silver -- and it really is pretty linear compared to the main game, but I liked that change of pace and enjoyed the missions. It was a good distraction played over the course of a couple of evenings. I don't regret having gotten it.

I did a shit ton of the side shit, and I know I got a bazillion more side things I can do, but I need to tidy this out of my backlog to finish it. I am at where:
Pop's kills himself at the purifier (stupid stupid plot point, why not just work with them and let me kill those dudes? Why not try to escape... obviously they wern't coming after us...) and I'm making my way to the citadel.

Without DLC, how soon can I wrap this up if I do nothing but storyline. I'm trying to prioritize my backlog.

Very soon. I don't recall the exact order of things, but if you've reached that point you are practically at the end of the story.

That said, if you're just going to finish the story and put the game down, you're not going to like it. You need to invest at least 40-50 hours into this thing to really understand its value. But then, that might not be your thing.

I beat the storyline in a couple days, of semi-casual playing.

Storyline sucks balls, though, its not the high point of the game.

Oh, I've already put about 30 or so hours into the game, maybe more, all doing side stuff not story related. I clearly see the value in the game, and intend to explore more and put many many more hours into it. It's just I got a bunch I want to play right now, and there's something about beating a game that satisfies me enough to put the additional stuff to backlog time.

My first full playthrough, which I discussed briefly in previous pages, was spent as a Good Karma character. I'm planning on starting a new game and going evil. My first game was pretty fun, and I felt like my character was pretty powerful by the end. (One shotting dudes from stealth with the Hunting Rifle and Sniper Rifler is good times). But, I also feel like I wasted some perks and skill points and I think I can come up with a much stronger character build next time through.

To that end, I have a couple questions:

    1) Is there a resource available somewhere that gives some info on character builds? Specifically, I'm wanting to use Energy Weapons this time around. Things I'm interested in knowing, other than just skills and perks, is which quests and what areas I should do first. The early-game very heavily favors the Small Guns build. I'd like to get my energy weapons guy off the ground as fast as possible, so I'm looking for places that are accessible in the early portion of the game for getting ahold of guns and ammo of this type.

    2) How do people feel about the Experience perks. On my first play-through, I took all 3 ranks of this, which put me at 30% bonus XP. On top of that, I had my Well Rested buff from my Tenpenny Suite, so I often has as much as 40% bonus XP. But are these perks really worth it? I felt like I hit level cap super quick on my game. I think that if I don't take these, my character could be a lot stronger even if it takes a bit longer to get there.

    3) I haven't ever messed with the crafting side of things. I found a few schematics on my first game, like the Nuka-Grenades, and the Rock-It-Launcher, but I never bothered to mess with them. Which, if any of these items are worth using, and which ones specifically would be beneficial to obtain the schematic for if I go for Energy Weapons as planned?

    4) As far as Stat Points go, for the long haul, which have the best payoff. My last game I took Strength and Agility. At the time, it seemed as though being able to haul more loot, and being able to take more shots in VATS was the way to go. But I've read elsewhere that a high INT has a big payoff. Just wondering, for a character build that uses Energy Weapons and perhaps crafted weapons, which stats should I beef up?

    5) Finally, my last question: I do not yet own Broken Steel, but I will probably grab it in the next week or so, once I get my new character into the mid-levels. However, if it is at all possible, I'd like to make a back-up of my current save file so that I can easily get the achievement for reaching level 30 as a Good Karma person. Is there a way to save my current game files so that I can come back, at some point in the future, to this particular character for the achievements?

Edit: One other question I forgot -- Are there any Evil Followers? I only found 2 possible followers on my first time through, and both were for Good alignment. Just wondering if there are any Evil ones and where I need to go to find them.

When I was doing a good run through today with Fawkes with me:

    (endgame spoilers)
I had an option to send Fawkes in with the code, though I didn't try it, has anyone attempted this option?

If so please let me know.

    @Lucascraft:

    1) The second you start the game go to Moira in Megaton and start her book quest. One of the options is to scavenge this food mart, inside, in the pharmacy of said food mart, is a laser pistol, and a good bit of ammo. I think there were even 2 on my most recent playthrough. Great for a starting out energy weapons person, that pistol does tons of damage. As for ammo, if you go to the trader town out east, Canterberry(spellcheck?) Commons, you can invest in the different wandering traders, including the guns trader, for a pretty small fee (both upgrades are under 1000 caps iirc) giving the guns trader a great deal more ammo. Between him and Moira early on you should be fine for any energy ammo needs. Also, one of the best things you can get early on is the scrounger perk, to find more ammo in general. Makes it easier to get money as well as energy ammo.

    2) I personally like the experience perks w/ Broken Steel. But YMMV. With the cap being 30 it helps to get a boost, but it really isn't required, theres always plenty to do to get you that next level up.

    3) Nuka Grenades are the best, and the Rock-It-Launcher can be hilarious, but the best is the Deathclaw Gauntlet for slappin bitches with great damage.

    4) INT is great for skill points upon level up, Agility is always good if you like AP, personally I use the SPECIAL perks to bring my str, agl, and int up to 9 asap, keeping the other stats at 5 until I pick up the bobbleheads. Though its really more build and playstyle dependent.

    5) Depending on OS, your saves are generally stored in your <user name>/documents/my games/fallout 3/saves (vista and win7).

edit) There is a guy in Megaton that you can pick up thats evil, so he can keep you company for awhile, I know there is at least one other but I forget his exact position.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_followers#Selection has a list of the followers and their personal alignment.

Theres absolutely no gain from sending Fawkes in now that you can
survive it. All it does is give you the ending you'd get for sending lyons in where it calls you a dick, and since you can now survive it without any problems, not even a negative perk, theres no reason to do it unless you like being called a dick by the game.

If you're doing an energy weapons character you'll definitely want to do the Superhero quest ASAP and pick up Protectron's Gaze. The initial laser pistol is pretty underpowered against the tougher low-level enemies, like Super Mutants and groups of raiders, and it'll be a while before you can get enough MF cells to make use of a laser rifle regularly. Also do the Replicated Man quest as early as possible, the weapon you get for completing it is as good as any of them in the regular, non-modded game.

You might also want to do the Those! quest (one of the rewards is a perk which boosts Perception) and pick up the Perception bobblehead - which is really easy to find - to give yourself two extra points to perception. Also, if you go into the Jury Street Metro tunnels - directly west of Vault 101 - and follow them all the way to the end (raiders and mole rats, nothing major) until you find a dude named Ryan Brigg. Kill him (he's allied with the raiders, no Karma loss and he attacks you anyway) and take the Bandana he's wearing - it's weightless, never degrades, gives you +1 perception and looks pretty cool to boot. Now you should have a pretty good build for energy weapons at a very early point in the game.

Also, I would advise you to always carry around a combat shotgun in decent condition in case of emergencies, at least at lower levels. Don't go overboard buying ammo for it, but keep it in case you need some quick, heavy, close-range firepower and you have to pummel your way out of it - which is pretty difficult with low-level energy weapons.

EDIT: As far as the weapon schematics goes there's no real reward for an energy weapons character, because there are no customized energy weapons. The Dart Gun is the only thing you might find useful, the schematics of which are obtained for completing the Temple of the Union quest with the good karma option. I have no idea how to get it if you're evil.
