I'm kind of in the mood for some weird music and i was wondering if anyone could help me out. the best i can describe what I'm looking for is Swordfishtrombones crossed with Lavos from chrono triggers end of days feel.
does anyone know any good music like this?
edit: i imagine this type of thing would sooner fall into the techno genera more than anything else, so techo that is close to my descrition works as well.
edit x2 wanted to thank everyone for the music posted, but didn't want to unnecessarily rez thread, so for those reading the op, thanks
The Books has 3 albums that are a mishmash of eclectic bits; I enjoy it but some of my friends would call it weird. They're up on iTunes and Amazon so you can give them a sampling.
do you have a better idea of what you want, videogame tom waits isn't exactly easy to get an idea of.
video game tom waits wasn't really what i was going for in the op. i meant more of the bangs and clangs you get with waits music with tempo changes, and the lavos music was for the end of days feel.
turns out what I'm looking for probably falls under one of the offshoots of math rock. something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1otpBtVu-PI but just the heavier parts of it
good suggestions though, I'll have to check more of these out. I especially forgot how great the Bleach OST was
I've seen Sweep the Leg Johnny a few times (my old band even played with them once) and they are without a doubt one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
They had a follow up band called Check Engine which you might like -- a bit more restrained but still good.
Math rock stuff you might also like: Shellac, Jesus Lizard, Dillenger Escape Plan, OWLS, maybe even The Dismemberment Plan?
