Scripts are a bad thing to rely on if you want to become any better at the game. Things like crouch-jump, rocket jumping, reloading after shots should all become natural reflexes that you develop over time, not automated systems that you take for granted.
Also, saying you got a script for rocket jumping doesn't exactly impress anyone
I'm new to Soldier (not counting the tennis matches that were set up thousands of years ago) and I can't rocket jump for any purpose. I can if I am just practicing and using the RJ maps or waiting for play to start. But once I have to think about enemies trying to kill me, I fail 3/4 of the time.
I just can't do the turn around rocket jump. I can do the normal straight down rocket jump and get all the way to the top of C on gravel pit, but I just can't do the rocketjumps for speed. No matter how many times people tell me. It's just one of those things I really need to practice, but I don't really have the patience for. Plus I rather play other classes.
quaz, you helped me develop the movement reload for soldier. I took it a step further and implemented it to the strafe keys, a and d, so if you see me jiggle about sideways, I'm reloading without looking!

lol, well apparently you can just stick +reload into your soldier cfg.
Edit:
Also, I remembered, but I was protecting your identity! I provide scripting help confidentiality.
Rocket jumping while vital in some situations isnt always optimal. I'll zoom about if I have the space and heals to catch stragglers and isolated targets (snipers medics etc) but to rjump into the thick of things is pointless. The element of surprise plays a lot into it. Also, you need at least a ping of 60ms to carry out repeated concurrent jumps; the delay beyond just fucks with the timing.
i hit all the buttons at nearly the same time, thus i don't think it effects much
if you do all the actions simultaneously, you don't actually carry out the full animation for crouch, you just bend and the knees a bit before jumping and firing.
Are these TF2 scripts equivalent to having key bindings in World of Warcraft? Is it something that you should do if you want to take it to the next level?
I can see them being really equivalent for manual things like rocket jumping. And engineer destroy/erect can potentially save vital seconds if you're in some serious heat.
Just to clarify, I'm not a shitty rocket jumper, but if this does it instantly and perfectly it could use some attention.

As I said, I suck at rocketjumping but considering what I do know about how I use it, a script would be useless. I do it differently for different heights and distances depending on the situation.

To be honest, I don't really see the point of rocket jump, pyro quickchop, stab n' sap, etc scripts. They all try to automate something that really needs a human level of accuracy and articulation. To my knowledge, all a rocketjump script is is a script that makes you crouch jump and fire a rocket. Nobody needs scripts to do this, and it's really the aiming at your feet or ass and quickly reorienting yourself or curving through the air that makes good rocket jumpers.

Yes, but it's a script and will execute it perfectly. There are still times when I rocket jump and totally cock it because of any variable, then my offense is deflated and I feel human. It wouldn't make much of a difference 98% of the time, but there would be times where I could catch myself being grateful for taking the time to copy the script.

luckily i cannot see my own legs bend, or lack bending.
Yeah, to be honest, I've fiddled with the idea of making a simple 180 script, something to just turn me around and turn back. And it just doesn't work very accurately, you'd have to lock down your FPS (And if I recall correctly, you can't lock your frame rate in an online match), and even then it's not perfectly precise. To make something that can aim down, spin around 180 degree, crouch jump, fire, spin back and look straight would be unreliable at best. Something that aims down for you might be possible, but it would be unreliable for making you face forward after wards.
Yes, but it's a script and will execute it perfectly
Therefore, fuck that.
edit: to clarify, stuff like remapping the numpad for an engy or whatever, fine. Even stuff like that auto-destroying buildings I can sort of understand. But things that actually take over your character and do stuff that you perhaps can't do every time is lame.
I mean I don't always hit with my bullets, but I can't just say "oh well because 75% of my shots hit it's ok to get a script that aims for me".
I don't think scripts of any kind help people 'take it to the next level'.
/edit: besides, why would I want control of my view wrenched away from me right before I'm about to try to shoot some people while in mid-air? Rocket jumping is easy enough that you're more likely to miss your special script key in the heat of the moment than you are to somehow blow looking straight down and crouch jumping.

@ Wally
That lessens my desire for the script =X.
I think we both said essentially the same thing. But you seem to be disagreeing with me and agreeing with him.
I do a lot of scripting. I mean, a LOT. My cfg folder is about 37Kbs. But of all my scripts the only ones I get a lot of use out of are my disguise kit and build kit scripts, and my class specific voice command binds. I've reverted back or simply don't use probably 80% of the scripts I've made. I made a script to change my mouse sensitivity with the wheel, don't use. I made a script to bind commands to mouse2 depending on my weapon, hardly ever touch (and sometimes screws me over when I accidentally press mouse2 with the flaregun out and taunt in the middle of a fight). I made a useless 180 script. I even made a script to decrease mouse sensitivity after firing, and I reverted that. Most of the time they simply don't help or get in the way.
But I just enjoy scripting and seeing my shitty scripts work. Even if they aren't incredibly helpful. And occasionally I make a gem that makes it slightly easier to disguise as an engi. It was a lot more work than it was worth though for any normal person.
Edit: Oh, I also get a lot of use out of my lower the game volume when I'm talking to reduce echo bind. And I really miss the loadout scripts.
Edit2: It's because I revealed the glaring problem with rocket jumping scripts me thinks.
Since we're on the topic, is there a way to script which weapon shows when you disguise as a spy?
Currently it seems like the only way to do it is bring out a weapon that corresponds with the slot of the class you're disguised as, and press the 'last disguise' button (which is what the patch notes say).
What I'd like is to be able to modify my disguise macro so it just defaults to a specific weapon.. say, the medic heal gun.

Unless somebody can think of a cleaner way to do this, this would be a pretty invasive script. You'd probably have to ditch the normal disguise kit for something like I have (So that you can have scripty stuff to follow selecting medic, otherwise there's no way to have a scripty follow up to selecting a disguise, unless you were to make it something like tapping 7 twice, once to select medic and another time to activate the script. GUI huds are kinda weird that way). Then there'd have to be a long wait to wait for the disguise to finish before you can switch weapons, then you'd switch to that class's disguise weapon, lastdisguise, then lastinv. I personally don't think this would be a good idea, because what if you need to stab or shoot somebody before your disguise finishes? Maybe if you had it set up so you had to tap 7 twice or something, then you could have each number bound to something like "bind 7 "slot7; wait 30; slot2; wait 30; lastdisguise; lastinv". Then you'd disguise as medic by pressing 7 with your disguise kit up. Wait for the disguise to finish, then press 7 again.
Edit: Oh wait you already have something like my disguise kit, yeah, you could just add a long ass wait, something like "slot2; wait 30; lastdisguise; lastinv" and that should do the trick, but again, I would recommend against it. Ginge had a better simpler solution of just adding lastdisguise to the mousewheel in addition to changing weapons, that way you change disguise weapons just like changing normally, but you'd have to press 3 to switch to the knife if you didn't want to be walking around with your bottle out.
Edit AGAIN: And yeah, toonsy, it's basically just a script to change to the disguise kit and taunt, so pyros like you can get that dumbass achievement and so we can look badass.
Yes, but it's a script and will execute it perfectly

My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
I bet they add an achievement for taunting someone with the disguise kit in the spy update. Something like the other taunt achievements, except it has the qualification of "without being set on fire".

I have actually thought about this, and I think it may actually be possible if you were to basically constantly take jpegs, have the game constantly execute a cfg that is constantly being modified by an outside program that attempts to calculate where the heads are on the jpeg and writes adjustments to your pitch and shit to write into this constantly read cfg. It would be pretty round about and in the end probably wouldn't work unless you came up with a great head detection mechanism that could perform the calculation instantaneously. Even then, like I had mentioned previously about rocket jumping, using commands to turn and point your dude are incredibly inaccurate.

It would be nice if his taunt kill would be to flick the cigarette, igniting the victim in immediate death-flames.
Including Pyros.
I'm pretty sure all competitive scout players use the pistol script.
It's a script where instead of clicking each time to shoot, you hold down M1 and it will automatically shoot (turning the pistol into something like the snipers machine gun). People use this because it makes the pistol shoot faster than most people can click, and it makes the pistol easier to aim.
It's probably the only instance where a script really gives a player an advantage - Spy/Engy scripts are really just for convenience, RJ scripts are too inflexible and pretty much a joke, anything else is probably so minor that there's not really an advantage by scripting it in.

I might've misunderstood, but I was trying to say I won't be able to make a rocket jump 100% of the time, and if I just used a script it would've been automatic success. My point was the script isn't useless if it gives you 100% of what you want every time. Which for me is impossible.
EDIT: I didn't read your previous post that you might have been referring to, so just in case that wasn't clear I don't want this devolving into forum mishaps.
@ Flippy
I have my limits with scripts too. I'm not asking for a script that detects opposing hit boxes and automatically executes a backstab or whatever. Even a rocket jumping script can be borked by the an appropriate opponent.
I didn't know about that pistol script. That's pretty amazing damage if it goes off as fast as the recoil lets it.
