It's like a nut you can play outside.
Or something.
Unless you've been living in a cave, Nintendo owns your mortal soul, or both, you're likely familiar with the PlayStation Portable.
No, it doesn't have nearly as many games as Nintendo's dual-screen juggernaut, but the ones it does have are pretty awesome.
To name a few, you can play games with:
Snakes!(Good luck finding that version, by the way)Planes!Demons!
Yes, there's also a DS version. Let's not speak of it.
Religious Drama!
This is the game you probably should own it for.
Miserable piles of secrets!
It's basically Symphony of the Night Portable, which is a selling point in and of itself.
Shiny blocks!
You love Rez and Space Channel 5, don't you? Of course you do. So love this too.
Pata pata pata-ohgodmakeitstopGinormous blades!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6ZaSipHuO4
Looks even better on the screen.
Falling notes!
If you want to pursue the US version, that is.
Mythological psychopaths!Rolling staaaaartPenguins that go 'boom'
Just to name a few.
Quite a bit on the way in the future to look forward to, as well, especially if you're into Atlus:
^That might do it for most people.
Or this:
So you don't have one yet?
Then this is what you should be after(or something like it):
The bundles generally come with a 1GB card among other things.
The PSP is also a multi-media device. Using a standard USB cable(ideally, one from a digital camera), just open the PSP in your computer like you would any other hard drive, drag desired files to the respective folder(i.e. 'Audio' for MP3s), and they're there.
The same applies for wallpapers('Image'), which can easily be gotten from numerous websites.
The best functionality of this is using either your own browser to download demos from websites and then transferring them to the system('Game' folder) for immediate use.
(This helped me determine that unlike the amazing Xbox shmup, Xyanide's Resurrection prequel for PSP is nothing like it.)
This can also be done with the system itself, but this tends to limit you to Sony's official site, when far more are available elsewhere.
Those sites could be accessed with the console also, but it's bound to take longer.
There's also a rumor that they're making a new one without a UMD drive, thriving on DLC.
That's the mother of all bad ideas. So try to get the real PSP experience while you still can.
Just watch that battery life, it goes out quick.
Posts
one of the old ones
have not played it in years
i bought a psp for that and fft
EDIT: Valkyrie Profile is one of the games I have and should play.
because between Disgaea, Castlevania, and my obsession with Lumines on XBLA there are quite a few games I would enjoy having.
Shame it's tough as nails.
i recognize those characters
is that a port of the very first one?
Atlus USA better not miss the chance.
finally i can buy something for my psp!
i sold my PSP like a year and a half ago cause the slim and lite just came out but i got a 360 and i just sorta forgot about it
was gonna get one again but i have no money and also i heard about a new PSP GO or something?
UNPOSSIBLE
though I do want one that does something with the analog nub . like, makes it better.
Of which I showed many examples of! (Except that one)
That's the one with no UMD drive running on DLC, reportedly.
Sounds like an idea destined for failure.
oh, is that some new thinner psp
didn't think the rumours were true
I want a PSP because there's going to be a version of Little Big Planet on it
suppose to be announced at E3
it's not supposed to use UMDs in which case what the fuck do i do with my games?
But then I broke it trying to make it into a tv remote.
I hate that so much!
Coasters.
Or keep the old one no matter what.
this thought is still in my mind, in the future.
alright, non final fantasy games about mythological psychopaths
did you show anything like that
Well, there's Dracula.
Gitaroo Man is awesome though. 8-)
edit: Sony needs some goddamn ps1 games out already for the thing. It's a shame that Japan has already gotten the likes of Xenogears while I sit here waiting and trying to decide between trying out homebrew or knowing that I'll eventually upgrade the firmware once a game that's worth it appears.
he stole it!
one of these days, iwa
I think I also lost Lumines, I'm not sure.
It's far less subtle with you and Phonehand explaining the joke
Shoot, I forgot Prinny.
It's what you might call hardcore.
Also, Puzzle Quest PSP is the best version(or so I'm told).
Therein lies the joke.
Enjoyed Crisis Core quite a bit, and Lumines is pretty great as well.
Should I try hunting down Patapon or just wait until the second game comes out? Or should I bother with it at all?
If have a transfer cable, you can download a demo of it and try it out on the psp. Loco Roco and other demos exist as well.
IT'S ALMOST LIKE A DOUBLE ENTENDRE!
AHAHAHA!
This. I thought I would love Patapon on general principle, but I found it awkward.
The sequel should be out by now, except it's download only?
