In 2006 I was not posting here yet, and thus immune to the devastating insight this thread affords
I was, however, active on the Ctrl Alt Del forums, and we were all very sure that you nerds were living less enriched lives

I attempted cast my mind back to those days and recalled a specific thing I posted on the CAD forums that just made my face crumple in on itself like the Shelbyville lemon guy, holy shit. I was a monster.
Okay science now that you’ve affirmed that I should only bother to shave once every few days, tell me why devouring whole pints of Ben and Jerry’s makes me irresistible
Been working my way through Player of Games these past few days. I hope at least one of the Culture novels has the drone accompanying the main human and getting annoyed with their rudeness as the main character.

Lady Raven was away for a couple days, leaving me unsupervised. The first morning I ate a whole tub of white chocolate n raspberry Häagen-Dazs for breakfast.

Resistance to ice cream headaches is a desirable genetic trait?

It's early release for the next week, so you know what that means! That's right, more bonsai!
This sawara cypress was a bit less immediately workable than the hinoki cypress I tried first; I'm pretty glad I did them in this order, because I feel like having gotten a sense of where wires go and what branches to keep helped a lot more here. The inside was just a solid mass of tiny new and dead branches, and it had tons and tons of small to mid sized branches, and being able to say okay, we're keeping this one and then working out from there helped a lot.
I didn't really have much of an idea for what to do with it, so after a good bit of pruning I decided I'd try repotting it and seeing what I found amongst the roots. And what I found was an amazing 2+ inches of fantastic gnarly roots, and I immediately had a vision of it perched on top of a rock, roots growing down around it, tall and majestic. I boldly started lopping off branches, getting it closer to the shape I was now envisioning, since I was now definitely keeping the entire trunk and would need much shorter branches to emphasize its height rather than any sort of horizontal movement.
This one was significantly more root bound in its pot than the last one, so it probably needed a repotting soon anyway. I spent a good while combing the roots out with my fingers and eventually the handle of a paintbrush. Once I got it to the point where each main root was largely separated, I trimmed off a bunch of the finer roots near the top.
Then I went out and scrounged up a rock. It ended up not being ~perfect~ so I went back out with a flashlight and found a better one. I wired it up very crudely, tested it out (it actually all balances perfectly!) then stuffed it all back into the original pot in the hopes that the roots will toughen up a bit first or something, I dunno.
Anyway, I'm super excited about this one too, now.
This is what it looked like before I stuffed it back into the pot, and should be somewhat representative of the final thing (if it doesn't die).
I'll need to come up with a better wiring solution and there's still a lot of pruning to be done before I wire the branches, but it's so cool! So majestic!
[e: I should note that there is still a ton of roots behind the rock in that last picture. As far as I know you can be pretty aggressive with removing the outer roots but I'm scurred.]
Currently up:
Small tree on unused part of kitchen counter
Small tree in Kiddoroars room
Small tree in Thunderlords rooms
Full size tree in entrance way (out old tree with our old ornaments)
Yet to be put up:
Living room (our new tree with all rose gold ornaments)
Dining room (MIL's tree that looks like someone vomited decorations onto it) (the kids decorate this one)
Small one in our bedroom
Small one in brother in laws room
And the windows in the kitchen and dining room have been decorated, and the new shelved in the loving room have been as well.
I cut out acidic food, booze, coffee, and smoking this last week and my esophagus feels worse
the main thing that helped me reduce my acid problems was reducing life stress
cutting out acidic beverages and foods and taking medications sort of alleviated it but frankly the only thing that mainly stopped it was not feeling mentally bad always

Man why has nobody thought of that before
wait what is this sarcastic response; am I somehow being insensitive by saying this
I'm just saying that he's doing nothing wrong by cutting out trigger foods but sadly in my experience it can help but might not work 100%
the only thing that helped me was entirely out of my control (Dan's cancer being surgically excised) and I'm obviously not saying feeling acid due to stress is anyone's fault

But we all know I’m the reason for Eddy’s acid reflux
After deleting my Facebook account I deleted my bookmark for it
Probably about a dozen times today on my phone I’ve muscle-memory tapped where it used to be and gone to a different site, purely out of years of routine
Imagine what you could tell people at the beginning of this thread.

Now when an ogre stomps on you you become "smashed" for the next round.
If the ogre misses they instead become "furious".

I was on the EGM forums mostly and they hated this place.
So I checked it out and immediately abandoned them.

@Shazkar Shadowstorm maybe you were right about internet trash compulsions
The internet is pretty saturated with flippantly acting like life is over because of a very mild setback.
