I just finished playing Portal on my new computer that can actually run games, (I've had a 2004 computer until a few weeks ago) and it really made me want to find more puzzle oriented first person games. I know there are first person adventure games out there, (I've always been a huge fan of point-and-click adventure games and kind of seen these other games about) but I was wondering if there are any like Portal that are fully 3D like an FPS.
If so, do you know any good ones that you'd recommend?
Are any of them funny? I prefer humorous adventure games... they tend to keep me invested more than serious ones. And scary ones I'm too wussy to play.
Anyway, I'm having a tough time searching online for this. I'm looking for something pretty specific, I guess. If it's too specific, feel free to suggest first person adventure games in general.
Myst. Riven. The Journeyman Project. 7th Guest. These are ancient games, and I wouldn't recommend them, but they have to be included for completion. I hate those games, but they are pretty much a standard off-shoot of traditional puzzle games. Schizm is a pretty good version of Myst-like games, released in 2001.
Jurassic Park: Trespasser was a terrible game back in 1998 that had a TON of good ideas which weren't executed very well. Way ahead of its time.
There is no game out there that is exactly like Portal. Just so you know. There are adventure games with similar humor and excellent writing, but they may not necessarily be a first person perspective (like Grim Fandango and The Longest Journey). There are also first person shooters with a ton of humor (No One Lives Forever and its sequel), but less puzzles. Finally, there are a lot of great first person games that have some horror factor to them that you really owe yourself to try, at least (like Bioshock, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Thief 2).
I'm pretty sure that his 2004 computer could run all of the suggestions here... but just to keep the theme going I recommend Quest for Glory: So You Want To Be A Hero?
It's not first person, but it's hilarious. I've probably played this game through moreso than any other game. It's a lot of fun and can be played in a number of different ways. I suggest the Thief, or a dual class thief at least.
Hrm...funny and 3d? Wasn't Bard's Quest (?) 3d? I think it had humor, and was possibly funny? There was funny to be had in Morrowind and Oblivion, if you looked for it. Um....that's really all I got, unless you count starship titanic. that was funny, but not 3d at all.
I was fond of Sin. The screaming in the bank level was amazing, and there was definitely some funny moments.
"Suckers!" *blam blam*
"Aaaah my leg!"
"You killed that monster! Ask those cops to check it's ovaries"
"Okay, guys I need you check that thing's ovaries-wait, what?"
"LOL"
"Welcome to my kitchen of horrors, blade. Let me show you my latest dish. I call it: repas de la morte"
"I got a dish for you, too, sweetcakes! I call it 225 pounds of kickass coming your way."

Fucking hi-larious.
Oh, it was basically a licensed Doom mod. I was just disappointed at the last level cause they didn't have a giant Chex boss.
(Yes, that's the whole thing PLUS a new episode!)
Does the new episode have a Chex Cyber Demon?
I have to know!
Checked just to be on the safe side, and it does a Cyberdemon-esque slime lord!

Homies be dissin those playa's ho. Playas be dissin on those homie's brother. Caps are busted.
I still think that is one of the best scripted sequences in the history of gaming.

I haven't even played the Thief games but that was pretty grand. Especially the line about the stable boy.
