Computer after moving doesn't turn on.

Me and my girlfriend moved in together yesterday and today we tried plugging in her computer and it won't come on.

It was a custom build and here are the following things we have tried:

1. New power cord
2. Looking inside to see if anything is disconnected
3. Different power strip
4. Different outlet

We can't figure it out and if you have any advice we would love to hear it. Worst case scenario is power supply but we shall see.

Try re-seating the motherboard. It could have been jostled into shorting itself out in the move.

If you've done all the things a normal PA browsing guy would do, try a new power supply if you have one available from a spare computer or one from a friend before you splurge on a new one.

I assume when you say it won't turn on, when you click the power button nothing at all happens, not even a light or clicking noise?

Also, obvious answer but sometimes the obvious are overlooked, but did you make sure the power supply is switched on?

Easiest way to test a power supply is if you have a spare power supply laying around, and if not get a hold of a multimeter. Not the most common tool to have laying around, especially for someone who just moved into a new house, but any IT professional / automotive mechanic should have one, and they only cost around $5-$10 at a store.

If you don't have one you might want to pick it up anyways, because its the type of tool that one wouldn't consider a requirement in a tool set but is still useful.
