Yeah. You've already had a 110 page thread of spoiler tags to read through so get out

I already saw it so shut your goddamn mouth, how about you do that

Shoe we've been down this road before. I'm prettier.

really, of all the things you could pick to be better than me at you go with looks

I'm pretty sure I've seen farm animals prettier than you

    Also this film was fantastic.

    Picard was a bitch

I am even now drafting a just simply huge post to tell you why you're wrong, I would appreciate it if you left the point alone until I have properly articulated and posted the thing.

Maybe if he sucked a little less dick

    Punched out more aliens

    Banged more green chicks

What you guys are all forgetting is that these are black holes made by red matter, those are completely different.
also it has been a while since I have seen TOS (and even longer since I saw TNG or the other series), was red matter in the canon at all before this or did they just make it up for this film?

It's new as far as I know. The Countdown comic says it's made from an isotope that the Narada's capable of mining.

And here's my two cents to the whole science-in-Star-Trek-blahblahblah talk.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGAahDeceHI

Well .. to be honest, No. 3 was just garbage ... Riker was just spewing random shit to throw off the Ferengi and get kid Picard some shit or other ...

The fact that I knew that within two seconds of seeing the clip is ...

why the hell does picard wear a red shirt?

does the captain just wear whatever the hell he wants?

Have you looked at how many times the real army/navy/whatever has changed uniforms in the last hundred years?

How many times has the military changed its uniforms in the first hundred years?

while the original series is kind of dated (seeing as it is more about the socioeconomic climate of the 1960s more than it is PEW PEW LASERS) (seriously back in the day could a show have an interracial kiss if it was set in modern times?) I really love all the characters.

    so no not really.

    that scene with scotty
where he's stuck in the coolant tubes

seemed a little out of place to me

    real willy wonka type stuff
I did like the TOS-like music at that part, though.

And it was fine for making the act of beaming onto the ship more interesting, not to mention it's directly responsible for the "Ah...yes. Could I get a towel?" line. I'd prefer flushing Scotty through large transparent water pipes and having to blow an emergency access hatch to catch the attention of the bridge to having them materialize successfully and that's it.

the alternate universe thing is a brilliant way to avoid the inevitable "waahhh why did they retcon everything" complaints from trek nerds

no, it's not a retcon, it's just in an alternate universe

at first I was like woo now nothing except enterprise and maybe part of first contact (?) happened

but then I thought about it and I realize it really does have to be an alternate universe, because otherwise they could just go save you-know-what and undo all of the events in the movie and it wouldn't make sense if they didn't

    so it's an alternate universe

not that it really matters otherwise, except whether tos-voyager are canon
