They're really going to put that "Spike TV Award Winner" blurb on every Johns book coming out? Really, DC? Really?

People who are X-Treme and do the Dew need to know that the book they're reading with their popped collar and double beef burrito from Taco Bell has the Spike TV seal of approval. To the extreme
Oh, don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic character, and it's always great to see him face off against "Doctor With An Anti-Laser Shield That Has A Small But Exploitable Flaw In It"; I just think that the name is a tad... expositional, shall we say.
Grant Morrison will eventually use these names for additional Great Ten and Super Young Team characters.
And so ends JMS's run on Thor, and Marvel in general unless he gets those last few Twelve issues done. Despite being annoyingly delayed most of the time I still think the JMS Thor run is easily one of the best Marvel stories I've read since I started reading Marvel stuff back in the mid 2000's.

I'm quite looking forward to the new, ongoing The Tick. It's written by Benito Cereno, who I've talked up quite a bit due to his excellent work on Tales From the Bully Pulpit, Atom Eve, and Hector Plasm, and drawn by Les McClaine, notable both for his Jonny Crossbones webcomic, as well as co-creating The Middle Man.
The Tick is one of those things I've always been fond of, due entirely to the outstanding cartoon and live action TV shows I'm sure everyone's familiar with. But none of the comics have ever really succeeded in holding my interest. Hopefully, with this creative team attached, that'll no longer be an issue.
Though I'll be the first to admit I was hella bummed to find out that most of the old cartoon cast cannot appear in the comics due to copyright issues.
Hopefully the pages are already done and IGN showed some earlier sketch work. Tan better have a good chunk of the first few issues done since Siege is coming up.
He's just a giant wank about it and e-mailed me after I'd already agreed to purchase wanting higher prices than he had listed.
That is a dick move. I would've just not purchased his art with the line "You just lost a fan, Tan."
Scott McDaniel, who really hasn't updated his homepage in ages, was a real treat to buy art from a few years ago. He even threw in some autographed issues of Superman he drew around that time.
normally i wouldn't post it because i don't care, but this seems incredibly terrible to me
clumsy dopey clark kent is the worst
I'm a little disappointed that they skipped over Clark's life between high school and Metropolis (Lex's life during that time has never really been shown either).
Really nice art, and getting Noh-Var's perspective is nice, his confusions at the state of the human race seems understandable. Also, look carefully as he sits on the park bench, is he eating raw eggs? Makes sense that he would do so as they are a great source of nutrients and his metabolism can easily digest them raw, but it's a lovely touch, he buys the eggs and doesn't even cosider cooking them, just chows them down.
Also, he cobbles together interstellar communications equipment while on the run in secret? That's pretty impressive, I didn't know he was such a techie.
Hm. Cautiously optimistic about Noh-varr. I was much more interested in his activities back in Marvel Boy, when he was having whacky misadventures with crazy alien tech, like those bracer things he wore on his forearms that could turn into different guns, or the multiplying grenades, but maybe we will see some of that again.

Maybe when Marvel lures Morrison back with cookies and millions of dollars
I miss the old Noh-Varr characterization too, but the things he did in the mini like carving "Fuck You" into New York obviously couldn't be done in the mainstream universe. Still, since then he feels a bit too much like the hyper-intelligent stranger cliche, which we've already seen with other aliens and robots and such who possess extraordinary gifts but also feel lost and are struggling to understand the world around them.

I thought is problem was that he understood it and hated it because of it
See Wolverine: The List for what makes Noh-Var awesome. It's his arrogance, his teenage idealism that the Kree way is in every way supreme to the human way, he truly believes that his people are perfect in their way of life and that any other way is a failing. He is honestly a good person that wants to make the universe(s) better but he cannot wrap his head around humanities imperfections, and that makes him great to read about as a character.

That doesn't seem to be Bendis' take on the character. Bendis seems to want to make him Captain Marvel.

Dear god please no. Marvel Boy was great because he was a new Namor-- an arrogant asshole throwing really awesome, city-smashing tantrums. His power set and gear was also cool.

Jerry Ordway as artist, that's always a treat.

Looks pretty epic, though I hope the inking and coloring can get done quick so the issue can come out on December 3 as solicited.
