These videos are great for watching through over and over, with your eyes fixated on a different part of the composition each time. Tons of great subtle animations!
I know it's anatomically obvious to say, but: THERE'S A SPECIAL PLACE FOR VALVE IN MY HEART.

ive yet to play arena, what type of game mode is it?
One spawn per round, exterminate the other team. If the round takes too long, a CP opens up and the teams try to capture the point while exterminating the other team.
It's about the lamest way to play TF2 I can imagine. Which is a shame, because the maps look splendid.

It's far better than CTF.
No, CTF is the second lamest. At least you can play for kills on CTF.
Arena is nice for trying things you generally wouldn't because there's no real set method. I find myself experimenting a lot more than with other maps.

Round-based combat will never catch on in video games, it's true.
I love the giant wall of names... kind of poking a little bit of fun at the mix and match voice samples for the announcer.
Also, this was the video I got a sneak peek of at my visit to Valve. A few things they changed from the version I saw: Originally there was much less exposition when running to the intel room. I told them I felt a bit confused about what exactly was going on at the start and I see they've added the big board and explicitly say "red spy in base, we need to secure the intel". Also the sexin' the scout's mom story was completely absent. And at the end they had the red spy reveal himself and about to stab the heavy and soldier, but quickly disguise back when they turn to look at him. Then when they go off in search of the red spy, the scout says "right behind you" and walks off while cloaking.
That's what I love about the beginning the most, you can hear the soldier reading the lights/buttons and then tripping it was funny.

I love Arena so much, it teaches people the meaning of fear
the thing about round based combat is it is not fun. it's why i never play counter strike or gears of war.
It is also one of the top reasons I play Tf2.

If they give spy melee, it better be the exact same judo chop animation as Goldeneye.

Nah. The three unlocks are gonna be the two watches and the slidable sapper, which goes a certain distance based on momentum and probably drops the disguise. It would be fair, I figure. A one-shot kinda thing to take out way too fortified sentries.
Round based fighting owns, back in my day you had to wait 20 minutes to play again if you died. It weeded out the bad players and kept in the good players who know how to communicate. You didn't even have health packs or regenerating health! (Then again with 'my time' I am talking about Medal of Honor but shush)
I really don't care about sitting out in Arena, I enjoy watching others play and see how well they do, the rounds are so short anyways that its hardly putting me out. I use the time to get a drink etc if I need to. PLus get better at the game and you wont be the one sitting out!
I dunno I always like the round based teamplay mode in AHL, but those fights were really entertaining and when you got left at the end you still had plenty of options on how to deal with a person.
Hey, so... I forgot I owned TF2, and then I got a new computer so now it runs all pretty, and now I'm gonna start playing. Might hop on the PA servers sometime as Age Old Sandwich, don't kick me out if I suck. I uh, was good at Team Fortress 1. When I was like, 14 or whenever the hell that came out.
Also, that Spy video is hilarious, do they have them for other classes?
Man, the Meet the Spy video made my night. Fantastic.
So what happened, allegedly, was that Valve has it's own youtube account. They uploaded the "Meet the Spy" video to youtube and instantly made it private, but someone on the Something Awful forums got a cache of the "most recent videos" and ripped the .flv from the site.

All but 2 classes have them, they release the periodically, usually with a class update.
Go to Team Fortress.com and under the movies section it has them all
Edit: I changed the link to go straight to the movies

No instant back-stab kills, but you can melee attack without dropping disguise.

I actually think that'd be pretty damn awesome. You punch a moving Heavy in the back of the head and run away and cloak as he turns
And then you just continue it for the whole round
