when my friend puts a cd in his computer it doesn't show up in itunes like it should. this wouldn't be problem since other programs will play cd's, but he just got an ipod and he wants to rip his discs to put on it.
so any ideas what might be wrong, and what could possibly fix it?
could be that you are burning mp3 or data format cds, rather than an audio cd. iTunes oddly cannot rip these directly.
mp3 cds and audio cds are VERY DIFFERENT. audio cds may have originated from mp3 files, but they are NOT mp3 cds.
anyway, when you burn cds for your friend, under the advanced tab in settings there should be a burn tab. just click the button for audio cd. this will limit the number of songs on the cd, but make it so iTunes can rip directly.

Oh, I jest. Is it a burned CD?
