I was not even playing Rule of Rose, just watching Kat do it, and I still wanted to pick up my controller and throw it through the screen.
It did. There are more videos on her Youtube page. I'm not sure why she only posted those few. Perhaps she got sidetracked or her post got eaten or she wanted to pace the amount of videos she posted. I dunno.
I'm gonna be honest though, I think I'm just going to wait or look for a plot summary. I've found myself basically skipping nearly full videos save dialogue and cutscenes just to see what's going on and the premise has sort of lost its novelty.
Sorry, the game just looks boring by now. Kat, your commentary is fine, though personally I would have preferred you severely cut down on the talking during cutscenes apart from reading the dialogue. Whatever atmosphere or ambiance is there is pretty much ruined when you're talking over the music and audio with the "No, I didn't do it. Get your shovel, Jennifer!" etc.
Yeah, I actually found those too, and watched the rest of the game. I've noticed Kat has some issues with ending videos, often cutting or ending them in the middle of talking. Usually it's just her talking, wrapping up or whatever, so it isn't a big deal, but in this case it was right in the middle of the cutscene.
Much agreement with everything here. Part of the boringness was due to the game itself; item hunting and wandering around seeing the sights can be fun for a player, but watching it gets painful after a time. The excessive room hunting towards the end (and especially the epilogue) was maddening, and I still don't really get what was special about the plot even though I tried to watch as much as possible.
The commentary also got a bit excessive during cutscenes, which did go a long ways towards hurting the mood that the story was trying to present. Calling the girls names, responding (often yelling) at the characters as they talked, that sorta thing. Very jarring.
At this point I don't think I even care what the plot was. :?
I actually found it used in a FYE in Raleigh once for $20. Bought it so damn hard because I just couldn't justify the full price used sticker everywhere else I'd seen it.
It was Chrono Trigger [Blind] (As in I've never played it and don't know the story etc.)
Or Parasite Eve.
Also, if you found the talking excessive there is a complete pure walkthrough up and a couple of other Let's Play I could link.
As for the cutting off in the middle of a cut scene it was difficult to find a better spot to cut it. I tried my best there.

Yes, it is. The gameplay is HORRIBLE. Believe me. It's so bad.
The story, CG, general atmosphere, all that is excellent. Whoever designed the gameplay had a grudge against humanity.
How does the story, atmosphere, etc, compare to SH2? If it's anywhere near SH2 level....I'll give RoR a try.
It's similar to SH2 in that it's mostly psychological horror, and it's going to take you some time to piece together what happened.
You'll be spending hours running around empty halls and getting jumped on by little imps, while only having a little knife to defend yourself with for 85% of the game.
Playing it is an absolute chore. If you can endure that, then by all means, but more than not, you'll realize the story isn't worth the effort.
And since this LP is right here, you don't even have to play it. Good deal if you ask me.
