Help with name of a movie.

Hey, so I'm trying to describe this horrible chick flick movie I had to sit through a few years back, but I can't remember the name of it, here's a couple things I do remember:
It was an old timey movie, like set way back.
There was a party scene toward the beginning of the movie.
There was a scene with the main character and her friend and the friend was talking about how she decided to marry some dude (the dude may have been really short or something).
Another scene was with all the girls of the movie laying around in the heat all unkempt, when someone comes to the door. They quickly shuffle around and by the time the guy enters, they all look posh.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I did remember another thing, after we saw it I went to target and they had another version of it that was like a miniseries or something.
But yeah the movie I saw seemed like it was made within the last 20 years, since I remember it having some high profile actress (though now I can't remember who).
Anyway thanks a lot man.
