Yah, you gotta use scripts for that. TF2Wiki has bunches of them, but in my opinion they're kludgy turds. You'd be better off learning how to do it yourself. It's not that hard.
Besides, doing it yourself lets you create stuff suited to your specific needs. TF2Wiki doesn't have my "Press F1 to build, press F1 twice rapidly to destroy (a la double click)" build script.

Scripts are great especially for things that you would expect to just be in the game naturally, like double key binds or switching between only your primary and secondary or primary ternary.

Engineer update will introduce on-demand farting. The pistol will be replaced with a can of refried beans, which he can throw at enemies, or eat to produce more methane. All sentries will be powered by methane.
And demomen will flick boogers at enemies, "creeping them out".

Right. I didn't think I implied you had a mandatory role shift, but fair enough- personally I think it's an interesting direction to go with the unlocks. It's almost like adding a new class.
